Preity Mukhundhan opens up about choosing the action-heavy role in Blast, calling it her most unconventional decision yet.

Preity Mukhundhan is quickly making a name for herself as one of the most promising young faces in South Indian cinema, and her recent comments about her role in Blast have only strengthened that image.

It has been a week since Arjun’s action-packed thriller Blast premiered on Netflix, and the film has already sparked conversations for its gripping story and intense performances. Among the standout names is Preity Mukhundhan, who played a crucial role alongside Arjun and Abhirami.

Speaking at a promotional event for her upcoming film Idhayam Murali, Preity reflected on why she chose Blast — a decision she now calls one of the most unconventional choices of her career.“Blast was an unconventional decision. Many heroines in my place would have feared to take up a role like this,” Preity said.

The actress revealed that she has always been drawn to action-oriented roles, making Blast a dream opportunity. She also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming audience response the film has received since its release.

Her fearless performance in Blast earned praise not just from fans, but also from veteran actor Arjun, who had recently applauded her stunt work, even joking that she could one day “overtake” him in action films.

For Preity, however, the journey is only getting started.

The actress also spoke about her upcoming Tamil film Idhayam Murali, where she stars alongside Atharvaa. Interestingly, she signed the project before Blast, and according to her, the role will show a completely different side of her acting abilities.“My character in this film will be much more pleasant and completely contrasting to what audiences saw in Blast,” she shared.

Directed by debutant Aakash Bhaskaran and backed under the Dawn Pictures banner, Idhayam Murali features an ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil, Thaman, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam, Sudhakar, and Angeline. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on July 10.

Beyond Tamil cinema, Preity’s career graph is expanding rapidly. She is set to appear in her second Telugu project, Emo Emo Idi, opposite Roshan Meka, and will also star in Dashamakan alongside Harish Kalyan.

What has caught even more attention is her upcoming Hindi debut in Naagzilla, signaling her entry into Bollywood and a bigger national spotlight.

With her bold choices, genre versatility, and willingness to break stereotypes, Preity Mukhundhan is clearly positioning herself as a performer to watch in the coming years.
