‘Rooh Baba’ Returns Again…? Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4’ Enters Development, Major Update on 2027 Production Timeline
After the massive success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the makers have reportedly started developing the script for the fourth installment, with Kartik Aaryan set to reprise his fan-favourite role as Rooh Baba.
The spooky laughter is far from over. Fans of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise may have another reason to celebrate as Kartik Aaryan is reportedly all set to return as the beloved Rooh Baba in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4. While the film is still in its early stages, work on the screenplay has already begun, hinting that another supernatural comedy adventure is on the horizon.
According to multiple entertainment reports, producer Bhushan Kumar has initiated the development of the fourth installment following the blockbuster performance of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The creative team is currently focusing on finalising a strong script before officially announcing the project and locking in the director.
If everything progresses as planned, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 is expected to begin production during the second half of 2027.
A Franchise That Keeps Growing
The Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise has become one of Bollywood’s most successful horror-comedy series. The journey began with the original film in 2007, directed by Priyadarshan, before returning with a fresh chapter in 2022, led by Kartik Aaryan. The third installment, released in 2024, further strengthened the franchise’s popularity among audiences.
Kartik’s portrayal of Rooh Baba has become one of his most recognizable on-screen characters. His mix of comedy, mystery and supernatural drama has connected well with viewers, making him the face of the franchise’s modern era.
The latest film also featured powerhouse performers Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit, adding nostalgia and star power to the horror-comedy spectacle.

Who Will Direct Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4?
While an official announcement is still awaited, reports suggest that Anees Bazmee, who successfully directed both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, remains the frontrunner to return for the fourth chapter.
However, the makers are reportedly prioritising the screenplay before making any final decision regarding the director. An official confirmation is expected once the script reaches its final stage.
Busy Schedule Ahead for Kartik Aaryan
Apart from revisiting Rooh Baba, Kartik Aaryan has an exciting lineup of films in the coming years.
The actor will next be seen in Naagzilla: Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand, scheduled for release in 2026. He is also working on an untitled romantic drama directed by Anurag Basu, where he shares screen space with Sreeleela.
Additionally, Kartik has Captain India, directed by Shimit Amin, and an untitled sports drama with Kabir Khan in his upcoming slate.
With multiple big-budget projects lined up and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 now entering development, the actor looks set to continue his successful run at the box office over the next few years.
