Yamaha has teased an August 27 event, fuelling speculation that the much-awaited YZF-R2 could make its India debut with a bigger engine and supersport styling.
Yamaha could be gearing up to strengthen its performance motorcycle portfolio in India with the launch of a new fully-faired sports bike. While the company has not officially confirmed the model, industry buzz suggests the YZF-R2 is the strongest contender for its event scheduled on August 27, 2026.
The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer has already sent out media invitations for the launch event, sparking fresh speculation among enthusiasts eagerly awaiting a motorcycle positioned above the popular Yamaha R15.
Could the YZF-R2 Finally Arrive?
The YZF-R2 has been making headlines for some time, especially after Yamaha trademarked the model name in India. If the reports prove accurate, the motorcycle will join Yamaha’s lineup as a new entry-level supersport, rather than replacing the R15.
