Virat Kohli continues to rewrite the record books. The Indian batting superstar reached another significant milestone during the first ODI against England, becoming only the fifth Indian cricketer to play 300 innings in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

The achievement places Kohli in an elite group alongside Indian cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Sourav Ganguly—a testament to his extraordinary consistency and longevity at the highest level.

Having made his ODI debut nearly two decades ago, Kohli has remained the backbone of India’s batting lineup across generations. His ability to deliver under pressure, chase challenging targets, and maintain remarkable fitness has made him one of the greatest ODI batters in cricket history.

The landmark came during what was his 312th ODI appearance, further underlining his remarkable journey in international cricket. Across those matches, Kohli has amassed 14,797 ODI runs, maintaining a phenomenal average of 58.71 and an impressive strike rate of 93.82.

These numbers place him among the most successful players the format has ever seen.

Among Indian cricketers, only Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Sourav Ganguly had previously crossed the 300-innings mark. On the global stage, Sachin Tendulkar continues to lead the all-time list with 452 ODI innings, followed by Sri Lankan legends Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene.

Over the years, the former captain has repeatedly emphasised that team victories hold greater value than individual records, even as his career continues to be decorated with extraordinary achievements.

The latest feat also reflects Kohli’s unmatched dedication to the game. Despite being one of the most accomplished cricketers of his generation, the 37-year-old continues to perform at the highest level, inspiring teammates and millions of fans across the world.

As India begins another important ODI campaign against England, supporters will hope that this latest milestone is followed by another trademark match-winning innings from one of the modern era’s greatest batters.
