Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office Day 5: Tom Holland’s Marvel Blockbuster Hits First Monday Speed Bump After Massive Weekend Surge

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finally witnessed its first major slowdown at the Indian box office after an extraordinary opening weekend. The Tom Holland and Zendaya starrer, which has been drawing packed houses since its release, recorded a noticeable decline in collections on its first Monday, a trend that is considered normal after a strong weekend performance.

According to the latest box office estimates, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film earned Rs 23.80 crore (net) in India on Day 5, taking its total net collection to Rs 281.75 crore, while the gross collection has climbed to an impressive Rs 336.91 crore.

A Dream Start Followed by a Routine Weekday Dip

The superhero spectacle began its theatrical journey with a phenomenal Rs 60.60 crore on its opening Thursday, setting the stage for one of the biggest Hollywood openings in India this year.

The momentum continued on Friday with Rs 49.35 crore, before the film exploded over the weekend. Saturday collections surged to Rs 70.25 crore, while Sunday emerged as the biggest day so far with Rs 77.75 crore, thanks to exceptional audience turnout across multiplexes and premium screens.

Monday, however, brought the first expected slowdown as working-day footfalls reduced. Even then, the film managed to collect Rs 23.80 crore, a figure many Hollywood releases would still consider remarkable.

Occupancy Remains Strong Despite the Decline

The film maintained healthy theatre occupancy throughout its first five days. It opened with an impressive 72.3% occupancy before settling at 64.8% on Friday.

Weekend demand pushed occupancy to 77% on Saturday and 78.7% on Sunday, reflecting the immense excitement among Marvel fans. On Monday, occupancy dipped to 50.5%, mirroring the expected weekday trend without raising concerns about the film’s long-term prospects.

Tom Holland Returns as Spider-Man in a New Chapter

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks the fourth standalone Spider-Man film featuring Tom Holland within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The movie also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink, and Tramell Tillman in key roles.

The story is set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the world has forgotten Peter Parker’s identity following Doctor Strange’s powerful memory-erasing spell. Living anonymously while continuing to protect New York City, Peter finds himself caught in fresh conflicts involving the Department of Damage Control, the Hulk, and the Punisher, pushing the iconic superhero into one of his toughest battles yet.

Although Monday’s earnings represent the film’s first significant decline, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to enjoy a blockbuster run at the Indian box office. With collections already nearing the Rs 300 crore net milestone within just five days, industry experts expect the film to remain one of the biggest Hollywood hits of the year if it sustains momentum through the coming weekend.
