London: Former India head coach Rahul Dravid has reportedly emerged as a surprise contender to become England’s next Test coach after Brendon McCullum stepped down from the role following the team’s underwhelming performances in the longest format of the game.

According to reports, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is exploring several experienced candidates to lead its Test side into a crucial phase, with the 2027 Ashes cycle and future World Test Championship campaigns in mind.
