Preity Zinta has firmly dismissed rumours suggesting she deliberately ignored Aamir Khan during the promotional campaign for her upcoming film Batwara 1947. The actress criticised a viral paparazzi post for promoting what she described as “clickbait content” and creating unnecessary controversy.

The speculation began after a video from a recent promotional event surfaced on social media, showing Preity walking past Aamir Khan without greeting him.

How the controversy started

The viral clip showed Preity Zinta stepping out of her vanity van while trying to navigate through a crowd of photographers. Appearing unsure about where she needed to go, she asked the photographers for directions before walking towards the event venue.

Although Aamir Khan was standing nearby, Preity appeared not to notice him as she hurried past. A paparazzi page later shared the clip with a caption suggesting that the actress had “ignored” the Bollywood superstar, sparking widespread discussion online.

Preity Zinta calls out ‘clickbait’ narrative

Responding directly to the viral post, Preity Zinta rejected the claim and explained the circumstances behind the moment.

She clarified that she was rushing to complete a few remaining shots before catching a flight for the ongoing Batwara 1947 promotions, which is why she did not see Aamir standing nearby.

The actress also criticised the social media page for presenting the incident in a misleading manner, stating that such content only encourages unnecessary negativity.

Preity further emphasised that she has “a lot of love and respect” for Aamir Khan, making it clear that there was no intention to ignore him.

Making a comeback after eight years

Batwara 1947 marks Preity Zinta’s return to the big screen after an eight-year hiatus. Her last theatrical release was Bhaiaji Superhit in 2018.

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the period drama features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh, Kanikka Kapur, and Khushi Hajare.

Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the film is set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947, with its story unfolding in Lahore during one of the most turbulent chapters in Indian history.

‘My biggest milestone was becoming a mother’

Speaking about her return to films, Preity Zinta admitted that she did not particularly miss being in front of the camera during her break from acting.

Instead, she said she enjoyed spending time with her family and raising her children, describing motherhood as the most significant achievement of her life.

Batwara 1947 is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 14, marking one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of the Independence Day weekend.
