Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast another active phase of the southwest monsoon over Meerut from July 27to July 30, with light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds likely across the district.

The upcoming spell of rain is expected to provide relief from the warm and humid weather. However, intermittent showers may also lead to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and slower movement on major roads during peak hours.

Rain and Thunderstorms Likely

Weather conditions are expected to remain unstable throughout the four-day period. Cloudy skies will dominate the city, while isolated heavy showers may occur in some localities. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are also likely, particularly during the afternoon and evening.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, maintain safe distances, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall.

Safety Advisory

Residents are advised to:

  • Carry umbrellas or raincoats while travelling.
  • Avoid standing under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms.
  • Stay away from waterlogged roads whenever possible.
  • Follow the latest IMD weather updates before planning outdoor activities.

Monsoon Continues Across Western Uttar Pradesh

Meteorologists expect the monsoon system to remain active over western Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, during this period. While rainfall intensity may vary from one area to another, the city is likely to experience typical monsoon conditions through July 30.

Citizens are encouraged to remain alert and monitor official weather advisories as the forecast may change depending on the movement of the monsoon system.
