Mumbai Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Warning From July 27–30 As Monsoon Intensifies… IMD Forecast Raises Concern Over Waterlogging
Mumbai is likely to witness heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds between July 22 and July 25 as the southwest monsoon remains active over Maharashtra. Residents have been advised to stay alert.
Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that Mumbai may experience a fresh spell of heavy rainfall from July 27 to July 30, as the southwest monsoon strengthens over Maharashtra’s Konkan region. The forecast points to persistent showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds, increasing the possibility of waterlogging, traffic congestion, and delays in local transport.
The city has already witnessed multiple rounds of monsoon rain this season, and the upcoming weather pattern suggests that rainfall activity could intensify further over the next few days.
Heavy Showers Expected Across Mumbai
According to the forecast, light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue on most days, while heavy rain may occur in isolated areas, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds could also affect parts of the city.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, particularly in low-lying areas that are prone to flooding during intense monsoon spells.
Travel May Be Affected
Heavy rain could impact road traffic, Mumbai Local train services, and daily commuting. Water accumulation on roads and reduced visibility during heavy showers may slow traffic movement across several parts of the city.
Residents planning to travel are advised to check weather updates and allow extra travel time, especially during peak office hours.
Safety Advisory for Residents
With rainfall expected to remain active, citizens are advised to:
- Carry umbrellas and raincoats while stepping outdoors.
- Avoid travelling through waterlogged roads.
- Stay away from open electric wires and flooded areas.
- Follow official IMD advisories and local administration updates.
- Avoid visiting coastal areas during periods of rough sea conditions.
Monsoon To Stay Active
Weather experts believe the active monsoon system over the Arabian Sea will continue to influence weather conditions over Mumbai through July 25. While rainfall intensity may vary from place to place, intermittent heavy showers are likely to continue, keeping the city under wet conditions.
Residents are encouraged to remain cautious as changing weather conditions may disrupt normal daily activities.
