The latest IMD bulletin issued on August 9 said the monsoon trough was extending across northern and central parts of the country, while a low-pressure area was located over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh.

The national weather bulletin also forecast rainfall activity across parts of northwest India, including scattered rainfall over areas outside the more widespread rain zones.

Delhi has already witnessed heavy rain

According to an IMD bulletin issued on August 8, 2026, very heavy rainfall of 12–20 cm was recorded over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the preceding 24-hour period.
