Kia Sorento Hybrid Teased for India… Bookings Open Ahead of Premium Three-Row SUV Launch
Kia India has opened bookings for the upcoming Sorento Hybrid, its first hybrid SUV for the Indian market, with the premium three-row model expected to launch in the coming weeks.
Kia India has officially teased the Sorento Hybrid, confirming that the premium three-row SUV will soon make its Indian debut. The company has also opened pre-bookings through its dealerships and official website, signalling that the launch is just around the corner.
The Sorento will become Kia’s first hybrid SUV in India, marking the brand’s entry into the country’s growing hybrid vehicle segment.
Premium SUV to Sit Above the Seltos
Positioned above the Kia Seltos, the upcoming Sorento Hybrid is expected to cater to families seeking a spacious and feature-rich SUV with three rows of seating.
Measuring nearly 4.8 metres in length, the SUV is designed to offer a commanding road presence while delivering the practicality expected from a premium family vehicle.
The teaser images reveal a bold exterior featuring an upright stance, wide proportions, and a distinctive two-tier LED lighting signature across the front, giving the SUV a modern and premium appearance.
Global Success Comes to India
The Kia Sorento has been one of the company’s most successful global models since its debut in 2002.
Now in its fourth generation, the SUV has sold more than 4.8 million units across 132 countries and ranked among Kia’s top three best-selling models worldwide in 2024 and 2025.

It has also earned several prestigious safety and automotive awards, including the IIHS Top Safety Pick+, a five-star NHTSA safety rating, and Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice recognition.
Expected Hybrid Powertrain
While Kia has not yet revealed the full specifications for the India-bound model, it has confirmed that the Sorento will be offered with a hybrid powertrain.

Globally, the SUV uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive available in select markets.
However, industry reports suggest the India-spec Sorento could receive a market-specific hybridised 1.5-litre petrol engine, potentially sharing technology with the upcoming next-generation Kia Seltos Hybrid. The company has not officially confirmed these details.
Expected Price and Rivals
The Kia Sorento Hybrid is expected to be priced between ₹30 lakh and ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once launched, it will compete with premium three-row SUVs such as the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq, while also attracting buyers looking for a fuel-efficient hybrid alternative in the premium SUV segment.
Kia is expected to announce the complete specifications, feature list, and official launch date in the coming weeks.
