Katrina Kaif Faces Fan Backlash over silence on student protests, 70K-Follower fan page shuts down
A popular Katrina Kaif fan account has announced its closure after expressing disappointment over the actress’ silence on the ongoing student protests, while supporters argue that celebrities have the right to choose when to speak.
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has found herself at the centre of an online debate after a popular fan page announced it was shutting down, citing disappointment over her silence on the ongoing student protests related to the alleged NEET exam paper leak.
The Instagram fan account, ‘katholic_fans’, which has more than 70,000 followers, shared an emotional statement saying it could no longer support the actress because she had not publicly commented on the issue that has sparked protests in New Delhi.
Fan page announces closure
In its statement, the fan page’s administrator said they had admired Katrina Kaif since childhood but felt let down by her decision not to speak about the concerns raised by students.
The post claimed that the actress had remained silent despite receiving years of support from fans, adding that the administrator would unfollow her and permanently close the page.
The emotional message quickly gained traction on social media, where many users praised the decision and described it as a principled stand.

Social media divided over the issue
While several users supported the fan page’s move, many others defended Katrina Kaif, arguing that celebrities should not be compelled to comment on every public issue.
Supporters pointed out that remaining silent is also a personal choice and that public figures have the freedom to decide which causes they wish to support. Some also criticised attempts to pressure celebrities into making political or social statements, saying fans should respect individual choices regardless of whether they agree with them.

The contrasting reactions have once again highlighted the growing debate over whether public figures have a responsibility to comment on major social and political issues.
No official statement from Katrina Kaif
As of now, Katrina Kaif has not issued any public statement regarding the ongoing student demonstrations or the alleged examination paper leak controversy.
However, several members of the Bollywood industry have publicly expressed support for the protesting students in recent days. Among those who have shared their views are Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonu Sood, Sonakshi Sinha, and Prakash Raj.
The protests have continued to generate widespread discussion across the country, with students demanding greater transparency and accountability in the examination process.
While the actress has remained silent, the closure of one of her largest fan-run social media pages has added another layer to the ongoing conversation about celebrity responsibility, public expectations, and freedom of expression in the digital age.
