Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul are expected to return as India prepare for the decisive third ODI against England at Lord's.

The stage is set for a thrilling finish to the India vs England ODI series as both teams prepare for the decisive third and final match at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Sunday, July 19. With the series locked at 1-1, the winner of the final encounter will walk away with the trophy.

Ahead of the high-pressure clash, the Indian team management is expected to make at least two significant changes to the playing XI in a bid to field its strongest possible combination.

Kuldeep Yadav Likely to Replace Injured Washington Sundar

The biggest change is expected in the spin department. Washington Sundar has reportedly been ruled out after suffering an injury while batting during the second ODI in Cardiff.

His absence is likely to pave the way for Kuldeep Yadav, who is in line for his first appearance of the white-ball tour. The left-arm wrist-spinner was not selected for the T20I series and has remained on the bench for the opening two ODIs despite being one of India’s most experienced limited-overs bowlers.

With Lord’s traditionally offering assistance to quality spinners as the match progresses, Kuldeep could play a crucial role in the series decider.

KL Rahul Expected to Return After Illness

Another major boost for India could come in the form of KL Rahul’s return.

The experienced wicketkeeper-batter missed the second ODI due to illness, forcing Ishan Kishan into the middle order. However, Ishan failed to make an impact, scoring just one run, strengthening Rahul’s chances of reclaiming his place behind the stumps.

Rahul’s experience in pressure situations and ability to anchor the innings make him a valuable asset in a must-win encounter.

Shivam Dube’s Spot Under Scanner

There is also uncertainty surrounding Shivam Dube’s place in the XI.

Team management now faces a tactical decision—retain Dube for his all-round abilities or bring in an additional specialist batter or bowler depending on the pitch conditions at Lord’s.

If India opt for extra pace, Arshdeep Singh or Prince Yadav could come into contention. Alternatively, the management could strengthen the batting lineup by accommodating both KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan.
