‘Sorry, Ash Bhai…’: Arshdeep Singh’s Honest Admission About R Ashwin Wins Hearts During Fun Bowling Rankings

India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh left cricket fans smiling after making a light-hearted apology to veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin while ranking his five favourite bowlers during a recent interview.

The left-arm pacer was asked to pick and rank five bowlers based on their abilities. While naming some of India’s finest bowling talents, Arshdeep admitted that placing Ashwin at No. 5 felt unfair and jokingly promised to personally apologise to the former India spinner.

‘Sorry, Ash Bhai, I’ll Message You’

Speaking on Krishnank Atrey’s YouTube channel, Arshdeep explained that his rankings were influenced by both admiration and personal experiences with the players.

He placed Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the top of his list, calling the experienced swing bowler his personal favourite.”Bhuvi bhai is at the top because he is my personal favourite. I’m a little biased.”

Arshdeep then selected Mohammed Shami at No. 2, praising the veteran pacer’s remarkable ability to extract seam movement on any surface.”Shami bhai can seam the ball on any wicket. His bowling is excellent, and he presents the seam perfectly.”

Kuldeep and Chahal Complete the Top Four

At No. 3, Arshdeep picked Kuldeep Yadav, highlighting the wrist-spinner’s rare left-arm Chinaman bowling, which makes him one of the most unique bowlers in world cricket.

He placed Yuzvendra Chahal fourth, pointing to the leg-spinner’s outstanding wicket-taking record and their shared experience of representing Punjab in domestic cricket.

Why Ashwin Finished Fifth

The final spot went to Ravichandran Ashwin, but Arshdeep was quick to clarify that the ranking did not reflect the spinner’s greatness.

Instead, he explained that all the other positions had already been filled.”I wouldn’t want to rate Ash bhai last, but there were no positions left, so he comes in at number five. He is great, but Ash bhai was also my first captain in the IPL with Punjab. Sorry, Ash bhai, I’ll personally message you.”

The humorous remark has since caught the attention of cricket fans, many appreciating the respect Arshdeep showed towards one of India’s greatest match-winners.

Arshdeep Waiting for His Next India Assignment

Arshdeep is currently out of action as India prepare for a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, beginning on August 15. The left-arm pacer remains part of India’s white-ball plans but is not involved in the Test squad.

His last international appearance came during India’s ODI series against England, where he endured a difficult outing in the deciding match, conceding 72 runs without taking a wicket.

However, before the ODI series, Arshdeep impressed in the five-match T20I series against England. Despite India’s struggles, he emerged as the team’s leading wicket-taker with four wickets.

Following that tour, the pacer was rested for the T20I series against Zimbabwe, where Shreyas Iyer guided India to a 3-0 series sweep in his first assignment as captain.

With another busy international season approaching, Arshdeep will be aiming to return stronger and continue cementing his place as one of India’s leading white-ball fast bowlers.
