‘Amit Shah Should Resign’: CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Levels Fresh Allegations Over July 20 Student Crackdown

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday intensified his attack on the Union government, demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the police action during the July 20 “Sansad Chalo” march organised by student protesters.

Speaking to reporters after returning to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar from the month-long agitation at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Dipke alleged that the police crackdown on students could only have been ordered by the Union Home Minister. However, he did not present evidence to support this claim.

Dipke Demands Amit Shah’s Resignation

Addressing the media, Dipke claimed that responsibility for the police action rested with Amit Shah and supported calls for his resignation.

He also rejected allegations that the Cockroach Janta Party was being funded or directed from outside India, arguing that if such claims were true, it would reflect a failure of the country’s security and intelligence agencies.

Raises Concerns Over Democratic Institutions

During the interaction, Dipke alleged that democracy in India was under threat and called on citizens to unite in defence of democratic values.

He criticised central investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), alleging that they had been used for political purposes.

Dipke also questioned the functioning of institutions, claiming they should work independently to safeguard democracy.

These remarks reflect his political views and have not been independently verified.

Criticism Over Education Ministry Appointment

Dipke also criticised the appointment of Pralhad Joshi as the new Union Education Minister following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.

He made several allegations against the government while questioning the message being conveyed through the leadership change.

The Union government has not publicly responded to these specific remarks.

Responds to Ramdev’s Comments

Reacting to criticism from Yoga guru Ramdev, who had accused Gen Z protesters of damaging India’s culture during the Jantar Mantar agitation, Dipke defended the movement.

He said the protest was conducted peacefully and within the framework of the Constitution, with participants carrying photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and B. R. Ambedkar.

Dipke also urged Ramdev to focus on Patanjali, referring to previous observations made by the Supreme Court regarding the company’s advertisements.

Extends Support to Farmers

Dipke said the Cockroach Janta Party would continue supporting farmers’ movements whenever required.

Describing himself as belonging to a farming family, he said students and farmers share common aspirations for a better future and pledged solidarity with agricultural organisations if they seek support.

Allegations Against Delhi Police

The CJP founder further alleged that Delhi Police had stationed trucks carrying stones and a damaged vehicle near the protest site before the July 20 march, claiming it was part of an alleged plan to implicate protesters in violence.

He stated that he had raised the matter with the area’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, who reportedly informed him that the truck was transporting construction debris.

Delhi Police has not publicly responded to these fresh allegations.

Background

The remarks come amid continuing political debate over the police action during the July 20 student protests linked to the alleged NEET paper leak issue.

Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have also demanded an independent investigation into the police action, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rejected the allegations and accused the Opposition of making baseless claims.

The controversy continues to remain a politically sensitive issue, with both the government and Opposition maintaining sharply contrasting positions.
