Following the separation, Tobey was also linked to model Tatiana Dieteman, though reports later suggested the relationship ended after several years.

The Spider-Man sequel that never happened

Many fans expected Tobey Maguire to return for Spider-Man 4, continuing the hugely successful trilogy directed by Sam Raimi.

However, the project was ultimately shelved because of reported creative differences between Raimi and Sony Pictures.

The franchise was later rebooted in 2012 with Andrew Garfield starring in The Amazing Spider-Man, before Tom Holland took over the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) beginning with Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

A long-awaited return in Spider-Man: No Way Home

After nearly a decade away from major live-action roles, Tobey Maguire made an unforgettable comeback in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The blockbuster united Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland on screen for the first time, delighting fans across the globe.

Reflecting on his return in the book Spider-Man: No Way Home: The Official Movie Special, Maguire admitted he was thrilled when Marvel approached him.“When they called initially, I was like, finally!” he said.

The actor explained that while he was naturally nervous about revisiting such an iconic role, the opportunity to work alongside talented filmmakers and fellow Spider-Man actors made it an easy decision.

He also made it clear that his affection for the character remains strong.“If these guys called me… to do a Spider-Man thing, it would be a yes,” Maguire said, expressing his willingness to return whenever the opportunity arises.

Following Spider-Man: No Way Home, Maguire appeared in the Apple TV+ anthology series Extrapolations, sharing the screen with acclaimed actors including Meryl Streep, Matthew Rhys, and Gemma Chan.
