Kajal Aggarwal says her character Mandodari has limited screen time in Ramayana Part I, with a much bigger role planned for the sequel.

Kajal Aggarwal is all set to enter the world of mythology with Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated epic Ramayana, where she portrays Mandodari, the wise queen of Lanka and wife of Ravana, played by Yash. While excitement around the film continues to grow, the actress has now shared fresh details about her role and her experience of working on the ambitious project.

During promotions for her upcoming film The India Story, Kajal revealed that audiences should not expect to see much of Mandodari in the first installment, as the character’s story becomes far more significant in the sequel.

‘Mandodari’s Journey Begins in Part II’

Speaking about her role, Kajal said she has been deeply connected to the Ramayana since childhood and has read several versions of the ancient epic over the years.

She described joining a project of such scale as a thrilling experience, adding that every character in the Ramayana carries its own importance and depth.

The actress also explained why she shares very little screen time with Yash in the first film.

According to Kajal, Ramayana Part I primarily focuses on Ayodhya, Lord Rama, and the events leading up to the central conflict. Since Mandodari’s role becomes much more prominent later in the story, she has only a handful of scenes alongside Yash in the first installment.

She further revealed that filming for Ramayana Part II has not yet begun, where her character is expected to receive considerably more screen space.

Working With Yash

Although they appear together only briefly in the first film, Kajal spoke warmly about working with Yash.

She described the experience as enjoyable and said collaborating with the Kannada superstar was a memorable part of the project.

Yash not only plays Ravana but is also one of the producers backing the ambitious mythological saga.

Ramayana Part I is scheduled for a theatrical release during Diwali 2026, while the second installment is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.

Kajal’s Next Release

Before audiences see her as Mandodari, Kajal Aggarwal will appear in The India Story, co-starring Shreyas Talpade.

Directed by Chettan DK, the film explores the impact of chemical abuse in pesticide farming and highlights the need for stronger regulations to protect public health and agriculture.

The social drama is slated to release in theatres on July 24.
