2026 Toyota Hilux Launched in India at ₹31.99 Lakh: New Design, More Features, 4×2 Variant Debuts…

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially launched the 2026 Toyota Hilux in India, with prices starting at ₹31.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The ninth-generation pickup truck arrives with a refreshed exterior, a redesigned cabin, upgraded technology, and a new 4×2 automatic variant, making the lineup more accessible than before.

Bookings for the new Hilux have commenced across Toyota dealerships, and customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second week of August.

Variants and Prices

The 2026 Toyota Hilux is available in three variants:

• GX 4×2 Automatic – ₹31.99 lakh
• GX 4×4 Automatic – ₹33.69 lakh
• VX 4×4 Automatic – ₹36.69 lakh

Compared to the previous model, the entry-level variant is priced ₹3.47 lakh higher, while the top-end version sees a modest increase of ₹69,000.

The Hilux continues to rival the Isuzu V-Cross in the premium lifestyle pickup segment.

Fresh Exterior with a Tougher Look

The latest Hilux adopts a bolder and more modern design while retaining its rugged pickup DNA.

Exterior highlights include:

• Slim LED headlamps
• LED daytime running lights (DRLs)
• Honeycomb front grille
• Bold TOYOTA lettering
• Redesigned front bumper with silver skid plate
• LED fog lamps

From the side, the pickup features 17-inch alloy wheels, black wheel-arch cladding, roll bars, side footboards, power-adjustable and retractable ORVMs, and a shark-fin antenna.

At the rear, Toyota has introduced C-shaped LED taillamps, a redesigned tailgate with TOYOTA branding, and a built-in rear bumper step for easier access to the cargo bed.

Customers can choose from six exterior colours:

• Sulphur Metallic
• Platinum Pearl White Metallic
• Attitude Black
• Ash
• Emotional Red
• Super White

Inside, the 2026 Hilux receives a completely redesigned dashboard that enhances both functionality and comfort.

The cabin features:

• Connected car technology
• Cruise control
• 360-degree camera

Drivers can also choose between Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes depending on road conditions.

Toyota has retained several physical buttons for frequently used controls, making the cabin more user-friendly during daily driving.

Features Missing Compared to Global Model

While the Indian-spec Hilux receives several upgrades, it misses out on a few premium features available internationally.

These include:

• Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
• Ventilated front seats
• 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster
• Dual-zone automatic climate control

Instead, the India-spec model continues with a 7-inch driver display and manual air-conditioning controls.

Safety Remains a Strong Focus

Toyota has equipped the Hilux with a comprehensive safety package, including:

Powering the new Hilux is the familiar 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, producing 204 hp and 500 Nm of peak torque.

Unlike the previous generation, Toyota has discontinued the manual gearbox, offering the pickup exclusively with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

A notable addition is the introduction of a rear-wheel-drive (4×2) automatic variant, expanding the Hilux’s appeal to buyers who primarily use the vehicle on paved roads.

Built for Serious Off-Roading

The 4×4 variants continue to offer Toyota’s renowned off-road capabilities, featuring:

However, unlike the Toyota Fortuner, the Hilux does not receive Toyota’s 48V Neo Drive mild-hybrid system.
