‘Welcome to the Jungle’ slows but nears ₹100 crore: Akshay Kumar’s comedy faces ‘Alpha’ heat on Day 8
Despite losing nearly 2,400 shows to fresh competition, Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer held steady and is now just inches away from the ₹100 crore domestic mark.
Akshay Kumar’s latest big-screen entertainer Welcome to the Jungle continued its theatrical run on a stable note, collecting ₹4.5 crore net on Day 8 at the Indian box office.
The comedy-action film witnessed a noticeable drop in collections on its second Friday, largely due to the arrival of fresh competition from the newly released spy thriller Alpha, which impacted its screen count significantly.
According to trade reports, the film’s number of shows dropped from 9,917 on Thursday to 7,557 on Friday, a reduction of nearly 2,400 shows, affecting its momentum at multiplexes and single screens alike.
Despite the cut in screens, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ managed to hold its ground and maintain decent footfall. The film’s total India net collection now stands at approximately ₹97.65 crore, while its India gross has touched nearly ₹112 crore.
Internationally too, the film has performed well, adding around ₹27.45 crore from overseas markets. This takes its worldwide gross collection to an estimated ₹143.72 crore, strengthening its global box office presence.

Occupancy trends on Day 8 showed that the film continues to find audiences in evening and night shows. Chennai reported the highest occupancy at 53.7%, though with limited screenings.
Among major markets, Jaipur and Bengaluru emerged as strong performers, recording 21.8% and 21.3% occupancy respectively, with sharp rises during night shows.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad showed strong late-evening growth, climbing from 7% in the morning to 32% at night. The National Capital Region (NCR) remained the film’s biggest market in terms of show count, clocking an average occupancy of 16% across 684 shows.
Cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad also saw improved evening turnout, while Surat and Bhopal recorded comparatively weaker numbers.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film features a star-studded cast including Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta and Disha Patani.
With advance bookings for Sunday already showing positive trends, the film is now expected to comfortably cross the ₹100 crore net mark over its second weekend a milestone that could boost its theatrical run further.
