‘I Guarantee It’: Ex India Star Shuts Down Rohit Virat 2027 World Cup Doubts With Bold Prediction
As questions grow over whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play the 2027 ODI World Cup, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has made a strong claim that could excite fans.
The debate over whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will still be part of India’s plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup refuses to die down. But if former India batter Mohammad Kaif is to be believed, the answer is already clear.
And according to him, there’s no room for doubt.
Kaif has thrown his full support behind the senior duo, insisting that both Rohit and Kohli are more than capable of leading India into the next World Cup, which will be played in South Africa.
“I will take the guarantee of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma,” Kaif said emphatically on his YouTube channel, making his stance crystal clear.
His confidence comes at a time when speculation over the future of India’s veteran stars has intensified following the heartbreak of the 2023 ODI World Cup final, where India fell short despite dominating much of the tournament.
Both Rohit and Kohli were among India’s standout performers in that campaign.
While Virat Kohli finished as one of the tournament’s top scorers and further strengthened his status as one of ODI cricket’s greatest batters, Rohit’s fearless captaincy and aggressive starts at the top played a massive role in India’s unbeaten run to the final.
Since then, both have repeatedly expressed their desire to chase one more World Cup title.
For Kohli, the 2027 tournament could be an opportunity to add to the World Cup medal he won in 2011. For Rohit, it remains an unfinished dream — having missed selection in that historic squad.
Kaif believes Rohit’s hunger remains as strong as ever.
“Rohit is working on his fitness, he will push himself and somehow manage to play. Injury happens to everyone, even to youngsters,” Kaif said.
He also highlighted a major shift in Rohit’s batting mindset.
“His batting as a captain and as a player is very different. The approach has changed. He is not pouncing on every ball,” Kaif observed.

While Kohli appears to be in a stronger position due to his continued consistency in both ODI cricket and the IPL, Rohit’s road may be more challenging, with fitness and form likely to play a crucial role over the next year.
But Kaif believes India’s core squad for 2027 will look very similar to the one from 2023.

He predicted that stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Shubman Gill will remain central to India’s plans.
“I feel the playing XI for the 2027 World Cup will be almost the same team that played in 2023,” Kaif said.
That statement reflects the faith many still have in India’s experienced core.
With South Africa’s conditions expected to test every team, the blend of youth and experience could prove crucial.
And if Kaif’s bold guarantee turns out to be right, Indian fans may yet get one final World Cup chapter from two of the game’s modern greats.
