Mumbai: Actress Rasika Dugal has shared fresh insights into her iconic character Beena Tripathi ahead of the release of Mirzapur: The Movie, revealing that it was the character’s complexity and unpredictability that first attracted her to the role.

Known for her sharp instincts and calculated decisions in the popular Mirzapur franchise, Beena has emerged as one of the series’ most talked-about characters. That makes her far more interesting to play than someone who is written to appear ‘strong’ in every scene,” she said.

Rasika also spoke about the portrayal of women in the Mirzapur franchise, saying the series has challenged conventional ideas of female strength.

According to her, women cannot be defined by a single characteristic, as real-life personalities are often layered and contradictory.“Strength, by itself, cannot be the only defining trait of a woman. Real women are contradictory. They can be vulnerable one moment and strategic the next. They can be compassionate and make morally questionable choices at the same time,” she explained.

Her comments reflect the show’s attempt to portray female characters with emotional depth rather than reducing them to conventional stereotypes.
