Porsche Taycan MY27 unveiled with virtual gear shifts, Smarter infotainment and First-Ever Electric manthey Kit
The updated Porsche Taycan lineup gains an engaging E-Shift system, a significantly upgraded digital cockpit, and track-focused Manthey performance enhancements for the Taycan Turbo GT.
Porsche has revealed a major update for its all-electric Taycan range, introducing a host of enhancements for the MY27 (Model Year 2027) lineup. The latest upgrades focus on three key areas: a more emotional driving experience, improved track performance, and a smarter in-car technology ecosystem.
The headline feature is the introduction of E-Shift, a new system designed to bring the sensation of traditional gear changes to an electric sports car. Alongside this, Porsche has rolled out a more powerful infotainment platform and extended its renowned Manthey Performance Package to an electric vehicle for the very first time.
Porsche Introduces E-Shift for a More Engaging Drive
One of the biggest criticisms of electric vehicles from driving enthusiasts is the lack of mechanical interaction. Porsche aims to address that with its new E-Shift technology.
The system allows drivers to manually shift through eight virtual gears using steering-mounted paddle shifters. Unlike conventional EV acceleration, E-Shift simulates several characteristics associated with internal combustion engines.
According to Porsche, drivers will experience:
- Simulated gear shifts
- Noticeable shift jolts
- Gear-dependent drag torque
- A virtual rev limiter
- Integrated shift indicators
- Digital rev counter display
The company has also updated its Porsche Electric Sport Sound system, which now reacts to vehicle load and simulated engine speed, creating a more immersive driving experience.
The E-Shift feature will be available as an option across the Taycan range, while the flagship Taycan Turbo GT will receive it as standard equipment.
Faster and Smarter Infotainment System
The MY27 Taycan also benefits from Porsche’s latest Digital Interaction System, powered by an upgraded version of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) platform.
Porsche claims the new system delivers up to five times more computing power compared to the previous generation, resulting in smoother operation and faster response times.
The revised interface includes:
- Customisable widgets
- Cleaner dashboard layout
- Enhanced vehicle graphics
- 3D vehicle representation in actual exterior colour
- Improved Apple CarPlay integration
- Expanded Android Auto support
The cabin also gains a new smartphone storage area equipped with a magnetic ring mount and 25W wireless charging capability, enhancing convenience for everyday use.
First-Ever Electric Porsche Receives Manthey Treatment
In a significant milestone for the brand, Porsche has extended its celebrated Manthey Performance Package to an electric vehicle for the first time.
Owners of the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package can now choose the newly developed Manthey Kit, which includes modifications aimed at maximizing track performance.
The package incorporates upgrades to:
- Aerodynamics
- Chassis setup
- Powertrain calibration
The Manthey Kit will be available both as a factory-installed option and as a retrofit package for existing owners.

This marks the first time Porsche has offered a Manthey-developed performance package for an EV directly from the factory.
Nürburgring Performance Highlights Taycan’s Capability
Porsche also used the announcement to highlight the impressive track credentials of the Taycan Turbo GT.
Development driver Lars Kern recorded a lap time of 6 minutes and 55.533 seconds around Germany’s legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, establishing one of the fastest times ever achieved by an electric executive sedan.

The achievement reinforces Porsche’s commitment to proving that electric performance vehicles can deliver both speed and driver engagement.
Porsche Focuses on Emotion in the EV Era
Commenting on the upgrades, Kevin Giek, Head of the Taycan model line, emphasized Porsche’s goal of making electric driving more engaging while continuing to improve performance and usability.
The MY27 Taycan demonstrates Porsche’s strategy of combining cutting-edge electric technology with the emotional characteristics traditionally associated with the brand’s sports cars.
With virtual gear shifts, enhanced software capabilities, and track-ready performance options, the updated Taycan aims to strengthen its position as one of the most driver-focused electric vehicles on the market.
