KL Rahul Told To ‘Go To Auction’ If Rishabh Pant Returns To Delhi Capitals… Big IPL Shake Up Loading?
With Rishabh Pant’s likely return to Delhi Capitals almost sealed, former India pacer Dodda Ganesh has advised KL Rahul to seek a release and test his value in the IPL auction.
Pant’s Delhi Return Could Trigger A Massive IPL Twist
The Indian Premier League transfer market may be heading for one of its biggest blockbuster moves yet, as Rishabh Pant is reportedly set for a sensational return to the Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2027 season.
After spending two seasons with the Lucknow Super Giants, Pant is expected to make his way back to the franchise where he built his IPL identity. Reports suggest that a major trade involving Kuldeep Yadav moving to Lucknow is nearly complete, with the paperwork currently under review by the BCCI.
If the deal goes through, it could completely reshape Delhi’s squad for the upcoming season.
Dodda Ganesh Sends Strong Message To KL Rahul
Amid growing speculation over Pant’s comeback, former India and Karnataka pacer Dodda Ganesh has sparked debate by suggesting that KL Rahul should consider leaving Delhi Capitals if Pant rejoins.
Ganesh openly stated that Rahul should ask for a release and enter the auction pool, hinting that Pant’s return could alter the franchise’s leadership and batting structure significantly.
The comment has triggered discussion among fans, especially because Rahul had one of his strongest IPL seasons in recent years.
Rahul And Pant Had Opposite IPL 2026 Campaigns
Interestingly, the two wicketkeeper-batters experienced very different fortunes in the IPL 2026 season.
While Rishabh Pant, who joined Lucknow for a staggering Rs 27 crore, struggled with the bat, scoring only 312 runs, KL Rahul enjoyed a standout season with Delhi.
Rahul amassed 593 runs in 14 matches at a blazing strike rate of 174.41, including a stunning unbeaten 152 against the Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Despite Rahul’s consistency, Delhi Capitals failed to secure a playoff spot and finished sixth on the points table.
Pant’s Lucknow campaign ended on a disappointing note, with the team finishing at the bottom and the wicketkeeper stepping down as captain after the season.

Yuvraj Singh Set To Join Delhi Setup
In another major development, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is expected to join Delhi Capitals as part of the coaching staff.
Yuvraj, known for his match-winning contributions in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup triumphs, has previously worked closely with Pant, making this reunion an interesting subplot.
His inclusion could signal a fresh strategic direction for the franchise.
Sourav Ganguly Returns, Big Changes Ahead

With JSW regaining control of the Delhi franchise’s management, former India captain Sourav Ganguly is also set to return as the head of cricketing affairs.
This marks a significant leadership shift within the franchise. Reports suggest current head coach Hemang Badani may not continue in his role.
With Pant’s possible homecoming, Rahul’s uncertain future, Yuvraj’s arrival, and Ganguly back in the fold, Delhi Capitals seem ready for a major rebuild.
And if this trade goes through, IPL 2027 may begin with one of the biggest talking points already decided.
