Kamal Haasan Calls Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey ‘A Film for the Ages’… Hints at a Special Tribute for Indian Fans
Celebrating Christopher Nolan’s 56th birthday, Kamal Haasan hailed The Odyssey as a timeless cinematic masterpiece and teased an upcoming tribute video for audiences in India.
Veteran actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan has showered praise on Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster The Odyssey, calling it a cinematic achievement that “belongs to the ages.” The heartfelt tribute came on Thursday as the acclaimed filmmaker celebrated his 56th birthday.
Taking to Instagram, the actor-director and Rajya Sabha MP shared the official title poster of The Odyssey along with a glowing message that quickly caught the attention of movie lovers across the world.
“Homer dreamt it. Nolan dared it. I applauded it. Children of cinema, this film belongs to the ages. Must watch!” Kamal wrote, applauding Nolan’s ambitious adaptation of Homer’s legendary Greek epic.
Kamal Haasan Teases a Special Tribute
Beyond his appreciation for the film, Kamal Haasan also hinted that fans can expect something more in the coming days.
The veteran actor revealed that he has recorded a tribute related to his experience of watching The Odyssey, which will be screened in Indian theatres before being shared online.
“As The Odyssey continues its epic voyage across the world, my ode will greet audiences in theatres in India. I’ll share it here soon,” he wrote.
Adding his trademark humour, Kamal jokingly remarked, “P.S. The CBFC got the first preview! It approved,” referring to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Nolan’s Epic Continues to Dominate Worldwide
Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey has emerged as one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.
The film is based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem and follows Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, on his perilous journey back home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters mythical creatures, dangerous challenges and emotional trials before reuniting with his wife, Penelope.
The star-studded cast features Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, and Charlize Theron, among several other acclaimed actors.

Released in theatres on July 17, the film has received widespread critical acclaim for its storytelling, visuals and performances. It has also enjoyed a remarkable run at the box office, collecting approximately ₹132.5 crore in India while moving closer to the ₹7,000 crore mark globally.
Busy Times Ahead for Kamal Haasan

On the professional front, Kamal Haasan was last seen in Thug Life and has an exciting slate of projects lined up.
The legendary actor is currently filming Kalki 2898 AD 2 and also has KH 237, the directorial debut of stunt duo Anbariv, in development.
He is also preparing for the much-awaited KHxRK project, directed by Nelson, which will reunite him with superstar Rajinikanth on screen after more than four decades. Reports have additionally linked Kamal Haasan with filmmaker SU Arun Kumar, although an official announcement regarding the collaboration is yet to be made.
