Arshad Warsi Defends Vir Hirani, Says Talent Matters More Than Nepotism
Arshad Warsi backs debutant Vir Hirani, saying talent—not family background—determines success in Bollywood.

Mumbai: Arshad Warsi has come out in support of Vir Hirani, the son of acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, as the young actor prepares to make his acting debut with the upcoming series Pritam & Pedro. While praising Vir’s performance, Warsi also shared his candid views on the long-running nepotism debate in the Indian film industry.

The actor, who stars alongside Vir in the series, believes the newcomer has all the qualities needed to build a successful career and should not be judged because of his famous surname.

‘He Has Done a Very Good Job’

Speaking to ANI, Arshad Warsi praised Vir Hirani’s work in his debut project, saying the young actor displayed remarkable discipline, humility and willingness to learn.

According to Warsi, Vir’s upbringing and attitude set him apart. He described him as someone who listens carefully, works hard and possesses the qualities necessary to become a good actor.

The actor added that Vir has delivered an impressive performance for someone making his first on-screen appearance and believes he will continue to improve with experience.

Arshad Warsi on the Nepotism Debate

Addressing the issue of nepotism, Arshad Warsi said it is unfair to hold children responsible for their parents’ success in the film industry.

He questioned why Vir Hirani should be criticised simply because he is the son of one of Bollywood’s most respected directors. According to Warsi, family background may help create opportunities, but it cannot guarantee long-term success.

The actor argued that talent ultimately decides an artist’s future, adding that audiences recognise genuine ability regardless of how someone enters the industry.

He also pointed out that opportunities are not limited to star kids. Good relationships, networking and professional connections can open doors for many aspiring actors. However, what truly matters, he said, is how individuals perform after receiving that opportunity.

According to Warsi, those with real talent continue to grow, while those lacking ability eventually struggle to sustain themselves in the industry.

Rajkumar Hirani on Pritam & Pedro

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who is producing the series, described Pritam & Pedro as an entertaining blend of cybercrime, humour and emotion.

He said most cybercrime stories tend to be dark, but the upcoming series offers a lighter treatment while retaining the suspense and intensity of the genre.

What Is Pritam & Pedro About?

Set against the scenic backdrop of Goa, Pritam & Pedro follows two unlikely partners brought together by an unusual investigation.

The story revolves around Pedro, an instinct-driven old-school police officer, and Pritam, a young technology expert. As the pair work together to solve a complex cybercrime mystery, they encounter unexpected twists, hidden secrets and challenges that test both their partnership and loyalties.

Blending mystery, comedy and emotional moments, the series promises a fresh take on investigative storytelling while introducing Vir Hirani to audiences in his first acting role.
