Emraan Hashmi reprises his iconic role as Shivam Pandit in Awarapan 2, which is set to release worldwide on August 14, 2026.

Nearly two decades after Awarapan became a cult favourite, Emraan Hashmi is back as Shivam Pandit in Awarapan 2. The makers unveiled the film’s much-awaited trailer on August 6, giving fans a glimpse of the action-packed sequel while deliberately keeping its central plot a mystery.

The trailer promises an emotional yet violent journey, with Shivam still haunted by the memories of Aaliyah, played by Shriya Saran in the original film. This time, the character is driven by revenge, redemption, and unfinished business from his past.

A Dark, Action-Packed Trailer Without Major Story Reveals

The trailer opens with a dramatic sequence showing Shivam Pandit hanging from a pole in heavy rain, pierced through the chest by a metal rod. The haunting visual sets the tone before Shabana Azmi, playing the formidable Nafisa, makes a chilling entrance with the dialogue:

“Kitni haseen shakal hai… maut se milne ka shauq hai tumhein?”

From there, the trailer shifts into a fast-paced montage featuring brutal combat, emotional flashbacks, and high-stakes confrontations.

One of the standout moments comes when Shivam reflects on his fate, saying:

“Maut, mera usse ek purana rishta hai, ek karz hai.”

Despite showcasing several intense sequences, the trailer carefully avoids revealing the film’s core storyline, leaving audiences guessing about what lies ahead.

New Characters Raise the Stakes

The sequel introduces several fresh faces alongside Emraan Hashmi.

Disha Patani appears as Zara, hinting at a new emotional chapter in Shivam’s life, while Shabana Azmi takes on the role of the powerful antagonist Nafisa.

The supporting cast also includes:

  • Puran Gabbi as Zorawar
  • Anirudh Rawal as Sikandar
  • Surendar Vicky as Jaideep
  • Vijayant Kohli as Mehmood
  • Atul Kumar as Samarth

Another intriguing sequence features Shivam recovering among a group of monks before returning to face his enemies, suggesting a transformation that the trailer leaves unexplained.

The preview ends with Shivam delivering a chilling warning:

“Ek-ek karke maroge… ya sab saath mein?”

Music Continues to Be the Soul of the Franchise

Just like the original Awarapan, music remains one of the biggest highlights of the sequel.

The soundtrack features compositions by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Malik, Ankit Sachdev, and Wasif Ahmad, while the lyrics have been written by Sayeed Qadri, Rashmi Virag, Akhil Sachdeva, and Sachin Singh Chandel.

Songs such as Ve Junoon, Yeh Awarapan, and Toh Phir Aao have already generated excitement among fans. The trailer also uses Tera Mera Rishta, composed by Mithoon and sung by Saaj Bhatt and Subodhh Sharma, adding an emotional layer to the high-octane action.

CBFC Clears the Film With Changes

Ahead of its theatrical release, Awarapan 2 has received a U/A 16+ certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The certification came after the board requested multiple edits. Reports suggest that around four minutes of footage were removed, along with approximately 20 seconds of modified scenes.

Release Date and Production Details

Presented by Vishesh Films and Mukesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 is produced by Vishesh Bhatt, directed by Nitin Kakkar, and written by Bilal Siddiqui.

The film stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, and Shabana Azmi in leading roles and is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on August 14, 2026. Pen Marudhar will handle the film’s theatrical distribution across India.

With nostalgia, powerful performances, and stylish action at its core, Awarapan 2 has succeeded in building anticipation. However, the trailer’s biggest talking point is not what it reveals—but what it intentionally leaves unsaid, keeping fans eager to discover Shivam Pandit’s next chapter on the big screen.
