Jr NTR–Nelson Dhilipkumar Film Still On? Producer Naga Vamsi shares big update amid delay

The long-awaited collaboration between Jr NTR and Nelson Dhilipkumar continues to generate excitement, even as fans wait for an official production update.

Putting speculation to rest, producer Naga Vamsi has reaffirmed that the ambitious project is still on track. Speaking about the film, the Sithara Entertainments head said the collaboration has always been planned with Jr NTR in the lead and remains a priority despite the delay.

Naga Vamsi Reassures Fans

Addressing the status of the project, Naga Vamsi described Nelson Dhilipkumar as one of his favourite filmmakers and expressed confidence that the film will eventually materialise.

According to the producer, the project was conceived with Jr NTR in mind from the very beginning, and the actor continues to be attached to the film.

His latest comments have offered fresh hope to fans, especially after months of little visible progress.

Why the Film Has Been Delayed

Although the project has not been shelved, both the director and the actor currently have packed schedules.

Nelson Dhilipkumar’s popularity soared after the blockbuster success of Jailer in 2023. He has since completed work on Jailer 2 starring Rajinikanth and is also expected to fulfil another major Tamil film commitment before beginning work with Jr NTR.

On the other hand, Jr NTR has an equally demanding lineup.

The actor is expected to spend much of 2026 filming Dragon, following which he will begin work on God of War, directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The ambitious project is reportedly expected to be one of the longest shooting schedules of his career.

Given these commitments, the Nelson-Jr NTR film is unlikely to begin production in the immediate future.

A Positive Sign for Fans

Despite the scheduling hurdles, there is one encouraging development.
According to Naga Vamsi, Jr NTR has already heard Nelson’s narration and liked the script enough to stay committed to the project.

That confirmation suggests the collaboration remains firmly in development rather than being abandoned.

In today’s film industry, lengthy development cycles have become increasingly common for large-scale pan-Indian productions, particularly when leading actors and directors are balancing multiple high-profile commitments.

Jailer 2 Set for Dussehra Release

Meanwhile, Nelson Dhilipkumar’s immediate focus remains Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth.

The sequel is officially scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on October 15, with the makers targeting the lucrative Dussehra holiday season for its release.

As for the Jr NTR collaboration, fans may have to wait a little longer. However, the latest update from Naga Vamsi confirms that the project is still very much alive and will move forward once the actor’s busy schedule allows.
