From Kumbh Fame to Court Protection: Kerala HC Orders Security for Viral ‘Rudraksh Girl’ Amid Kidnapping Row

In a dramatic turn of events, the Kerala High Court has directed police authorities to provide protection to a young woman who rose to viral fame during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

The court’s intervention comes amid a growing legal dispute surrounding her marriage and allegations of kidnapping against her husband, Mohd Farman.

Court Steps In to Ensure Safety

Hearing the girl’s plea, the Kerala High Court observed that her safety required immediate attention and issued clear directions to the police.

“The petitioner ought to be afforded protection for her life,” the court stated, instructing the Station House Officer of Ernakulam Central Police Station to ensure adequate security until the matter is fully heard.

The court has also issued notices to the state government and listed the case for further hearing on July 10.

The Controversy: Marriage or Kidnapping?

The case has sparked widespread debate due to conflicting claims about the girl’s age. While she maintains that she is an adult and legally married, her father has alleged that she is a minor and was kidnapped.

Based on his complaint, the Madhya Pradesh Police registered a case against Mohd Farman under multiple laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

Earlier Relief for Husband

In a related development, another bench of the Kerala High Court had earlier granted transit bail for one month to Mohd Farman. This relief allows him to approach a court in Madhya Pradesh to seek anticipatory bail in the kidnapping case.

Significantly, the court had observed that the girl prima facie appears to be a major—a remark that could play a crucial role in the case moving forward.

The young woman had gained widespread attention after a video of her selling rudraksh garlands at the Kumbh Mela went viral on social media. Her captivating smile and striking presence made her an internet sensation almost overnight.

Originally from Indore, she later married Farman in Kerala, reportedly in the presence of senior leaders from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), despite strong opposition from her family.
