Volkswagen Tayron Life Launched in India: Same Power, Rs 5 Lakh Cheaper Than R-Line
Volkswagen Tayron Life launched in India at Rs 41.99 lakh with the same engine, safety features and luxury equipment as the R-Line variant.

The wait for a more accessible version of the premium SUV has finally ended as Volkswagen has introduced the new **Volkswagen Tayron Life variant in India. The new base-spec model arrives with a price tag of Rs 41.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it nearly Rs 5 lakh more affordable than the top-spec Tayron R-Line.

Interestingly, Volkswagen has not reduced the performance, safety equipment or core luxury features to achieve this lower price. Instead, the company has mainly removed the sporty cosmetic upgrades associated with the R-Line package.

For buyers considering premium SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian, the new Tayron Life could become an attractive alternative by offering premium features without paying extra for styling enhancements.

Volkswagen Tayron Life Keeps The Same Engine And Performance

The biggest highlight of the new Tayron Life variant is that it retains the same mechanical setup as the more expensive R-Line model.

Under the hood, the SUV continues with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 204 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s all-wheel-drive system.

This means customers choosing the more affordable variant will not experience any difference in performance, driving capability or road presence compared to the premium version.

Premium Features Remain Almost Completely Unchanged

Volkswagen has also ensured that the price reduction does not affect the overall luxury experience inside the cabin.

The Tayron Life continues to offer features including a touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance technology.

Safety equipment remains equally impressive with features such as nine airbags and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) continuing as standard.

The SUV maintains the same dimensions as the R-Line, measuring 4,792 mm in length with a 2,789 mm wheelbase and offering seating capacity for five passengers.

What Changes In The New Tayron Life Variant?

The Rs 5 lakh price difference mainly comes from removing the sporty R-Line appearance package.

The Tayron Life misses out on the gloss-black styling elements found on the R-Line, including changes around the grille, door cladding, wheel arches and rear bumper.

Instead, Volkswagen has given the Life variant a more elegant design featuring L-shaped grille elements and silver-finished lower trim.

The SUV also gets smaller 19-inch alloy wheels compared to the R-Line’s larger wheels, along with the removal of R-Line badging from the interiors and exterior.

However, customers still get a choice of seven exterior colour options.

Locally Assembled In India

The Volkswagen Tayron Life continues to be assembled locally at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, the same plant responsible for producing the R-Line version.

Local production helps Volkswagen maintain competitive pricing while bringing premium SUV technology to Indian customers.

Why The Tayron Life Variant Could Change The Premium SUV Game

The biggest advantage of the Volkswagen Tayron Life is that buyers are not sacrificing the things that matter most.

In many premium SUV segments, lower variants often come with fewer safety features, less powerful engines or reduced technology. However, Volkswagen has taken a different approach by keeping the engine, drivetrain and safety package untouched.

The Rs 5 lakh saving is mainly for buyers who do not require the aggressive R-Line styling and larger wheels.

With the new Tayron Life, Volkswagen has created a premium SUV option that focuses more on value, making luxury ownership slightly more accessible for Indian buyers.
