In a candid conversation with Shekhar Suman, Sunidhi Chauhan opened up about leaving singing reality shows, saying the growing use of technology made her question the authenticity of the format.
Renowned playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan has revealed the real reason behind her decision to step away from judging singing reality shows. During a heartfelt conversation with veteran actor and host Shekhar Suman on Shekhar Tonite, the singer admitted that the decision was entirely her own and came after years of being associated with television.
When asked why audiences no longer see her as a reality show judge, Sunidhi said she eventually realised, “Yeh meri jagah nahin hai” (This is not my place).
Singer raises concerns over authenticity
Explaining what prompted her exit, Sunidhi Chauhan said she felt reality singing competitions were gradually moving away from the honesty they were meant to represent.
According to the singer, technologies such as Auto-Tune and Melodyne were originally introduced in music production to create specific effects in studio recordings. However, she believes using such tools in a reality show, where performances are expected to be genuine and live, changes the essence of the competition.
Sunidhi shared that once she noticed this shift, she no longer felt comfortable being associated with the format and decided it was time to move on.
