Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Price Shock? New Leak Hints at Premium Upgrade That Could Cost Buyers More Than Expected
Samsung’s next-generation foldables are tipped to arrive with bigger displays, flagship cameras, powerful processors—and a price tag that may surprise even loyal Galaxy fans.
The countdown to Samsung’s next major smartphone launch has officially begun, and fresh leaks suggest the company could be preparing one of its most ambitious foldable lineups yet. But while the upcoming devices are expected to bring significant hardware upgrades, they may also arrive with a noticeable increase in price.
According to multiple reports, Samsung Electronics is expected to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 during its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is reportedly scheduled to take place in London on July 22.
Adding to the excitement, industry insiders also claim Samsung could introduce a premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra or even a tri-fold smartphone, a move that would place the South Korean giant in direct competition with Apple’s widely anticipated foldable iPhone project.
Bigger Screens, Better Cameras, More Power
If the latest leaks are accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could feature one of the largest displays ever seen on a Samsung foldable. The device is rumoured to sport an 8-inch foldable AMOLED panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness reaching 2,600 nits.
Under the hood, Samsung is expected to use Qualcomm‘s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with up to 16GB RAM and as much as 1TB of internal storage.
Photography enthusiasts may also have something to look forward to. Reports indicate the Fold 8 could feature a powerful 200-megapixel main camera, accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor offering 3x optical zoom. The device is also expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is tipped to receive notable upgrades of its own. Leaks suggest the clamshell foldable could arrive with a 6.9-inch main display and a significantly larger 4.1-inch cover screen, offering users more functionality without unfolding the device.
Samsung is reportedly testing its next-generation Exynos 2600 chipset for the Flip 8. The smartphone may include a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 10-megapixel selfie camera. Battery capacity could increase to 4,300mAh, supported by 25W charging.
The Real Headline: A Possible Price Hike
While the hardware improvements are grabbing attention, the biggest talking point ahead of launch is pricing.
Industry reports from South Korea indicate Samsung may increase the prices of its foldable smartphones in 2026. Rising component costs, more advanced display technology and enhanced AI capabilities are believed to be contributing factors.
If the leaked figures prove accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could debut in India at around ₹1,89,999, while higher storage variants may comfortably cross the ₹2,20,000 mark.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 could also become significantly more expensive than its predecessor. Analysts expect the device to start near ₹1,24,999, representing a notable jump from the launch price of the previous generation.
Samsung’s Foldable Gamble Continues
Foldable smartphones remain one of the most competitive segments in the premium smartphone market. With brands from China rapidly improving their foldable offerings and Apple reportedly preparing its own entry into the category, Samsung appears determined to stay ahead through innovation.
The company’s upcoming launch could therefore be about much more than new smartphones. It may signal Samsung’s strategy for defending its leadership in the foldable market while convincing consumers that premium innovation is worth paying extra for.
For now, all eyes remain on Galaxy Unpacked, where Samsung is expected to reveal whether these leaks are accurate—or whether it has even bigger surprises in store.
