Ranveer Singh’s Pralay Shoot Shifted From Australia to Mumbai… Here’s Why Deepika Padukone Is Reportedly Part of the Decision
Ranveer Singh is set to headline the zombie thriller Pralay, but the film’s Australia schedule has reportedly been moved to Mumbai as the actor prefers to stay closer to Deepika Padukone during her pregnancy.
Ranveer Singh is preparing to enter a completely different cinematic world with Pralay, a zombie thriller directed by Jai Mehta. But before the film reaches the big screen, its production plans have reportedly undergone a major change.
According to a report by India Today, the film’s shooting schedule, which was originally planned in Australia, is now being shifted to Mumbai.
The reported reason is both personal and practical.
Why was the Australia shoot reportedly cancelled?
The report suggests that Ranveer Singh wants to remain close to his wife, Deepika Padukone, as the couple prepares to embrace parenthood for the second time.
Ranveer and Deepika are already parents to their daughter Dua, whom they welcomed in September 2024. The couple announced their second pregnancy in April 2026.
With Deepika going through this important phase, Ranveer reportedly did not want to spend an extended period away from home.
A source cited by the portal said that Ranveer wants to be around Deepika as they prepare for their second child and that the production team is therefore making arrangements to shift the schedule to Mumbai.
The reported move would allow the actor to balance his professional commitments while staying closer to his family.
Australia locations reportedly created another hurdle
Interestingly, Ranveer’s personal preference is reportedly not the only reason behind the change.
According to the report, the makers of Pralay were also facing difficulties securing permission to shoot at certain locations in Australia.
With both issues affecting the original plan, the production team and Ranveer reportedly agreed to move the schedule to Mumbai.
This could make the production process considerably more manageable while allowing the filmmakers to continue working on the film without a prolonged overseas schedule.
Ranveer Singh enters the zombie-thriller zone
Pralay is expected to be a significant departure from the kind of roles audiences have recently seen Ranveer Singh take on.

After the box-office success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the actor is now set to headline a zombie thriller that reportedly combines a post-apocalyptic setting with heavy VFX work.
The film is being mounted on an ambitious scale, and its visual requirements were reportedly one of the reasons Australia was initially considered for a substantial portion of the shoot.
Moving the production to Mumbai does not necessarily mean the film’s scale will be reduced. Instead, the makers are reportedly reworking the schedule and locations to make the production more practical.

A different phase for Ranveer and Deepika
The reported change also comes at an important moment in Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s personal lives.
The couple welcomed their first child, Dua, in September 2024 and announced their second pregnancy in April 2026.
For Ranveer, the decision to remain closer to Mumbai reportedly reflects his desire to be present for his family while continuing with a demanding film schedule.
For Pralay, meanwhile, the shift could become one of the project’s most notable production changes before filming progresses further.
With Ranveer Singh leading a zombie thriller for the first time and Jai Mehta at the helm, expectations around the project are already high.
Now, all eyes will be on how the filmmakers recreate the film’s post-apocalyptic world in Mumbai — and whether the change in shooting location will have any impact on the scale and visual ambition of Pralay.
