Actor Nikitin Dheer says he refuses roles that glorify violence unnecessarily, stressing that entertainment should also carry a sense of responsibility.

Actor Nikitin Dheer, known for his powerful performances in films and web series, has revealed that he has turned down several negative roles because he was uncomfortable with the way violence was portrayed. The actor believes there is a clear distinction between playing a compelling grey character and glorifying violence without a meaningful purpose.

Currently seen in Raktanchal 3, Dheer shared that his decision-making process has always been guided by personal values and the impact his work could have on audiences, especially children.

‘Violence Should Have a Purpose’

Speaking about his career choices, Nikitin admitted that he has rejected multiple projects over the years but chose not to reveal their names.“I’ve turned down many roles. I don’t want to name them. My characters have earned me a huge fan base among children, and I always keep that in mind while choosing projects,” he said.

While he enjoys portraying intense and morally complex characters, Dheer explained that he draws the line when violence is included merely for shock value.“I like playing negative, intense and violent roles. But sometimes a line is unnecessarily crossed, and I don’t think it looks aesthetically pleasing on screen,” he added.

Audience Perspective Shapes His Decisions

The Chennai Express actor revealed that one simple question helps him decide whether to accept a project.

Rather than looking at a role only from an actor’s perspective, he imagines himself as a viewer.“I always ask myself whether I would enjoy watching it as an audience member. If I don’t understand a project or connect with it, I simply don’t do it. And I never regret that decision,” he explained.

Dheer also wished success to fellow actors who eventually take up the projects he declines, saying every artist has their own journey.

Why OTT Has Become the Preferred Choice

Nikitin also reflected on the changing entertainment landscape, saying that OTT platforms have transformed the way audiences consume content.

According to him, shorter attention spans have played a major role in this shift.

He pointed out that viewers today are more likely to invest their time in web series with eight to ten episodes than commit to television shows that run for hundreds of episodes.“Audiences today know they can finish a web series in a few episodes. Long-running television shows require a much bigger commitment, and I think that’s one reason OTT platforms have become so popular,” he said.

Raktanchal 3 Continues the Crime Drama Saga

Nikitin Dheer is currently starring in Raktanchal 3, directed by Ritam Srivastav.

The crime drama features Kranti Prakash Jha alongside Dheer in the lead, with Rajesh Kumar, Karan Patel, Vikram Kochhar, and Mahie Gill playing important supporting roles.

The latest season continues the gritty narrative that has earned the series a loyal fan following on the OTT platform.

Balancing Powerful Performances with Responsibility

Throughout his career, Nikitin Dheer has become known for portraying memorable antagonists and powerful screen presences. However, his latest comments highlight that he carefully weighs the social impact of every role before signing on.

By choosing scripts that align with his personal principles, the actor believes he can continue entertaining audiences while staying true to the values that matter most to him.
