Nagarjuna has urged the Telugu film industry to improve production planning and avoid last-minute release postponements.

Veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has voiced concern over the increasing number of release date postponements in Telugu cinema, urging filmmakers to adopt better planning and complete films well ahead of their scheduled release.

Speaking about the issue, Nagarjuna said the frequent delays witnessed in recent years are not an unavoidable part of filmmaking but rather the result of poor production management.

‘Finish the Film Before the Deadline’

The actor stressed that filmmakers should hand over projects to the post-production team at least two weeks before release, giving editors, sound designers and visual effects artists enough time to perfect the final product.

According to Nagarjuna, rushing post-production until the last moment often compromises quality and forces producers to postpone release dates.

He said timely planning would not only improve the finished film but also help maintain audience confidence in announced release schedules.

Compares Tollywood With Hollywood

Drawing a comparison with Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, Nagarjuna pointed out that Hollywood productions often announce release dates a year in advance and successfully stick to them.

He questioned why the Telugu film industry continues to struggle with maintaining announced schedules despite having the resources and talent to do so.

The actor suggested that consistency and discipline in production would benefit both filmmakers and audiences.

Lessons From His Own Classics

Reflecting on his earlier films, Nagarjuna recalled that classics such as Ninne Pelladata and Annamayya had their final versions completed nearly a month before their theatrical release.

He wondered why such practices have become less common in today’s industry despite advances in filmmaking technology.

For the long-term health of Telugu cinema, Nagarjuna said filmmakers should focus on completing projects earlier, allowing technicians sufficient time to refine every aspect before release.

Recent Delays Spark Debate

His comments come at a time when several high-profile Telugu films have witnessed last-minute postponements.

Projects including Devara, Peddi, The Raja Saab, and the recently released Lenin have all experienced release date changes, with some delays announced only days before their scheduled premieres.

The recurring postponements have often disrupted theatre schedules and disappointed moviegoers awaiting major releases.

A Call for Industry-Wide Change

Nagarjuna believes that adhering to announced release dates is crucial for maintaining professionalism and strengthening audience trust.

His remarks have reignited discussions within the industry about improving production workflows and ensuring that films are fully ready before release announcements are made.

As Telugu cinema continues to expand its global reach, the veteran actor’s call for better planning may resonate with producers looking to build a more efficient and reliable release system.
