Maruti Suzuki’s most expensive jimny yet is here: What makes the new rhino edition worth Rs 31.74 Lakh?
The rugged new Jimny XL Rhino Special Edition gets exclusive styling, premium cabin upgrades, and a striking yellow finish—but there’s a catch under the hood.
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the most expensive version of its iconic off-road SUV, the Jimny, introducing the exclusive Jimny XL Rhino Special Edition in Australia. With a price tag reaching approximately Rs 31.74 lakh for the automatic variant, the special edition takes the popular lifestyle SUV to a new premium level.
Since its launch in 2023, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny has built a loyal fan base across multiple markets thanks to its compact dimensions, off-road capability, and distinctive design. Now, the automaker is aiming to attract enthusiasts with a more rugged and feature-rich version inspired by adventure and exploration.
A Tougher and More Aggressive Exterior
The biggest talking point of the new Jimny XL Rhino Special Edition is its unique exterior design.
The SUV receives a bold black hexagonal grille, complemented by side skirts and an aluminium-style skid plate that enhances its off-road character. Adding to its exclusive appeal are gloss black and satin silver decals featuring a prominent Rhino graphic along the side profile.
The SUV rides on stylish 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the eye-catching Kinetic Yellow paint scheme gives it a distinctive road presence. Interestingly, this color was previously reserved for the three-door Jimny in Australia, making its arrival on the five-door Rhino Edition even more special.
Cabin Gets Exclusive Rhino-Themed Upgrades
Inside the cabin, the overall layout remains familiar, but several cosmetic and comfort upgrades help distinguish the Rhino Edition from the standard model.
The dashboard features exclusive Rhino badging, while satin silver accents, black leather inserts, and yellow contrast stitching create a more premium atmosphere. Buyers opting for the manual transmission variant will also receive a retro-inspired gear knob, adding a nostalgic touch to the driving experience.
Additional features include:
- Upgraded Pioneer front speaker system
- Premium floor and luggage mats
- Multi-colour ambient footwell lighting
- Enhanced interior detailing
The SUV continues to offer features already available in the standard version, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fibre upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
No Mechanical Changes Under the Hood
While the exterior and interior receive substantial upgrades, the mechanical package remains unchanged.
The Jimny XL Rhino Edition continues to be powered by the trusted 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with the brand’s renowned AllGrip Pro All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system.
The engine produces a maximum output of 101 hp, delivering the same performance characteristics as the standard Jimny. This means buyers are paying for exclusivity, styling, and additional features rather than extra power.

Price and Availability
The special edition has been launched exclusively in the Australian market.
Pricing for the new model is as follows:
- Manual Variant: AU$ 44,990 (approximately Rs 29.71 lakh)
- Automatic Variant: AU$ 47,900 (approximately Rs 31.74 lakh)
These prices make the Rhino Edition the most expensive Jimny variant currently offered by Maruti Suzuki.

Why the Rhino Edition Matters
The Jimny has always been known as a practical off-roader rather than a luxury SUV. However, the introduction of the Rhino Edition shows how manufacturers are increasingly targeting enthusiasts looking for unique styling and limited-edition appeal.
By combining rugged design elements, exclusive color options, and premium interior enhancements, Maruti Suzuki has transformed the Jimny into a more aspirational product without altering its proven off-road formula.
For adventure lovers and collectors, the Jimny XL Rhino Special Edition may prove to be one of the most desirable versions of the SUV yet—especially given its limited-market availability and distinctive identity.
Whether it eventually reaches other international markets remains to be seen, but for now, the Rhino Edition stands as the most premium and expensive Jimny ever launched.
