In a remarkable blend of automotive engineering and creative design, Koenigsegg and LEGO Technic have created what is now officially the fastest full-size LEGO vehicle ever built.
The life-sized replica of the ultra-exclusive Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear recently reached an impressive speed of 111 kmph during a demonstration run at the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed, setting a new benchmark for large-scale LEGO automotive projects.
The achievement is particularly notable because the vehicle is not merely a static display model. It is a fully functional machine constructed from hundreds of thousands of LEGO Technic components and engineered to move under its own power.
A Hypercar Made from Nearly 328,000 LEGO Pieces
The full-size LEGO version of the Sadair’s Spear is an extraordinary feat of engineering.
According to project details, the vehicle was assembled using 327,906 LEGO Technic pieces and required more than 9,400 hours of development and construction.
The finished model weighs approximately 1,800 kilograms, with nearly 400 kilograms consisting solely of LEGO bricks.
Unlike many display-oriented builds, this creation includes functional mechanical systems and moving components, allowing it to operate much like a real vehicle.
The project demonstrates just how far LEGO Technic engineering has evolved, transforming simple plastic elements into a drivable automotive masterpiece.
Record-Breaking Run at Goodwood
The record-setting run took place at Goodwood, one of the world’s most prestigious automotive events.
Behind the wheel was Markus Lundh, Koenigsegg’s official test driver. Interestingly, Lundh had already made headlines a year earlier after setting a hillclimb record in the actual Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear.
This time, he guided the LEGO version around a reverse-course layout at Goodwood, successfully pushing it to 111 kmph.
The achievement comfortably surpassed the previous speed record for a large-scale LEGO Technic vehicle, which stood at 49.8 kmph and was held by a LEGO-built McLaren P1.
By more than doubling the previous record, the Koenigsegg project has established an entirely new benchmark for large-scale LEGO automotive builds.

The LEGO creation is based on the real Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear, one of the most exclusive performance cars ever produced by the Swedish manufacturer.
