‘England Let the Bully Bully Them’: Kevin Pietersen’s Brutal Verdict After Argentina’s Dramatic World Cup Comeback
The former England cricket captain criticised the Three Lions for surrendering momentum after taking the lead, as Argentina booked another FIFA World Cup final with a dramatic 2-1 victory.
Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen did not hold back after the Three Lions suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final, claiming the team allowed the defending champions to dominate after going in front.
Taking to social media shortly after the final whistle, Pietersen expressed his disappointment with England’s inability to maintain control of the match despite producing an impressive performance for large spells.
‘England Let the Bully Bully Them’
England appeared to be on course for a historic victory when Anthony Gordon finished off a brilliant cross from Morgan Rogers to hand Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead in the second half.
However, Argentina responded with the composure expected of reigning world champions.
Enzo Fernández restored parity before substitute Lautaro Martínez scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner in the 93rd minute, sending Lionel Scaloni’s side into another World Cup final.
Reacting to the collapse, Pietersen wrote on X:”One of the biggest mistakes you can make in sport is letting a bully, bully you.”
He added that England looked outstanding until taking the lead but quickly surrendered momentum.
According to Pietersen, Argentina immediately imposed themselves after conceding, while England failed to respond to the shift in intensity.

The victory extended Argentina’s extraordinary record in World Cup semi-finals.
The reigning champions have now won all six of their World Cup semi-final appearances and remain on course to successfully defend the title they lifted in Qatar.
They will now face Spain in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, with both teams aiming to lift football’s biggest prize.
Another Painful Exit for England

For England, the defeat added another chapter to their difficult history in World Cup semi-finals.
The Three Lions have now fallen at the last-four stage in 1990, 2018, and 2026, while their only World Cup triumph remains the memorable 1966 victory on home soil.
Despite showing promise under Thomas Tuchel, England were left devastated after conceding twice late in the game, with Pietersen’s comments reflecting the frustration felt by many supporters following another near miss on football’s biggest stage.
