Katrina Kaif revealed that her first-ever television commercial featured Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, years before her Bollywood debut.

Before becoming one of Bollywood’s most successful actresses, Katrina Kaif was knocking on the doors of advertising agencies in Mumbai, hoping to land her first modelling assignments. Interestingly, her very first on-screen appearance wasn’t alongside a Bollywood superstar—it was with actor and current Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay.

As Katrina Kaif celebrates her birthday on July 16, an old interview has once again caught the attention of fans, offering a glimpse into the humble beginnings of one of India’s biggest stars.

Katrina Kaif’s First Commercial Was With Joseph Vijay

Speaking in an earlier interview with Mashable India, Katrina recalled her struggling days when she had just arrived in India to pursue modelling. She revealed that she would personally visit advertising agencies across Mumbai, hoping to secure commercial projects.

The actress humorously remembered that she frequently landed soap advertisements but missed out on one campaign because she had no idea how to play kabaddi.

Katrina also shared that her very first television commercial was a soft drink advertisement featuring Joseph Vijay, where she played the role of a ballerina.

Reflecting on the experience, Katrina laughed about her dancing skills, revealing that one of her friends later joked she looked like the “world’s clumsiest ballerina” in the advertisement.

From Commercials to Bollywood Stardom

Although Boom (2003) marked Katrina’s acting debut, it was only after films like Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, Namastey London, Welcome, and Singh Is Kinng that she established herself as one of the leading actresses in Hindi cinema.

Over the years, Katrina delivered several blockbuster films, including Ek Tha Tiger, Dhoom 3, Tiger Zinda Hai, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Sooryavanshi, cementing her position among Bollywood’s top stars.

Katrina was last seen in Merry Christmas, where she starred opposite Vijay Sethupathi. While fans continue to await an official announcement regarding her next film, the actress has largely stayed away from the spotlight in recent months.

As she celebrates another milestone, her journey—from modelling assignments and television commercials to becoming one of India’s most bankable actresses—continues to inspire aspiring performers across the country.
