Chinmayi Sripaada Slams Vijay, Rajmohan Over Rapper Vedan Row “Enough Is Enough”
Singer questions political leaders for “platforming” an accused artist; controversy reignites debate on accountability in public life
Singer Chinmayi Sripaada has sparked a fresh controversy after publicly questioning Vijay and Tamil Nadu minister Rajmohan Arumugam over their association with controversial Malayalam rapper Vedan, who has faced multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault.
The issue came to light after Vedan was seen meeting Rajmohan, prompting Chinmayi to react strongly on social media. Reposting an image of the meeting, she expressed disappointment and concern over what she described as the continued “platforming of men accused of serious sexual harassment / assault allegations”.
She wrote, “I hope TVK and Rajmohan don’t do exactly what previous regimes did…”, indirectly referring to past criticisms of political establishments. Chinmayi also highlighted that she had expected a different approach from Vijay’s political outfit, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Past association and turning down opportunities
Chinmayi revealed that she was once approached for a collaboration project involving Vedan during the COVID-19 period. However, she later distanced herself after learning about the allegations against him.
“At that point… I had no knowledge of it. He later put out a statement apologising… The project was dropped,” she shared, adding that she has since refused multiple professional opportunities involving the rapper, even at personal cost.

She further stated that “men using social activism as a facade to violate women’s consent is not acceptable”, underscoring her firm stand on the issue.
‘Women stand alone while men get platforms’
In a strongly worded message, Chinmayi criticised what she sees as a pattern in society where accused individuals continue to receive support and visibility, while those speaking out are often sidelined.
“Women… get no support… while the man is a ‘hero’… Enough is enough,” she wrote, calling out what she described as systemic failure in addressing such concerns.
Her remarks have reignited debates around accountability, public image, and the responsibility of political leaders and public figures when associating with controversial personalities.

As of now, there has been no official response from Vijay or Rajmohan regarding the controversy. Meanwhile, the discussion continues to gain traction online, with opinions divided between calls for accountability and arguments about due process.
