Rajinikanth to skip Jailer 2 audio launch, but fans are getting something much bigger just 4 days before release…
Rajinikanth will reportedly sit down for a rare three-hour television interview on Sun TV on October 11, days before Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2 arrives in theatres on October 15.
Rajinikanth is reportedly taking a different route to promote his much-awaited action sequel Jailer 2. Instead of appearing at the traditional grand audio launch that fans have come to associate with his films, the superstar is said to be preparing for a rare, extended television appearance.
According to a report by India Today, Rajinikanth will participate in a special three-hour interview on Sun TV on October 11, just four days before Jailer 2 hits theatres.
The reported interview is scheduled to air from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, giving audiences three hours with the veteran star ahead of his return as the formidable Muthuvel Pandian, aka Tiger.
A rare three-hour interview from Rajinikanth
What makes the planned appearance particularly interesting is how rarely Rajinikanth sits down for interviews of this length.
The actor has largely stayed away from extended television conversations in recent years. His last comparable long-form TV appearance reportedly came around Shankar’s 2.0 in 2018.
In the years since, fans have been more accustomed to seeing the superstar speak at film audio launches, public functions or during brief interactions with the media while travelling.
That makes the October 11 programme a significant promotional event in itself.
Instead of bringing Rajinikanth to a massive venue, the makers will effectively bring him directly into millions of homes just days before the sequel’s theatrical debut.
Why is Rajinikanth skipping the usual Jailer 2 audio launch?
Rajinikanth’s audio-launch speeches have traditionally been among the most anticipated moments in the promotional campaigns for his films.
Such events often go far beyond simply unveiling music. His speeches, stories from the film’s production and comments about life and cinema regularly become talking points among fans.
Jailer 2, however, has taken a different approach.
Rather than holding the conventional large-scale audio launch featuring Rajinikanth, the film’s music was unveiled through a special fan-focused event titled Jailer 2 RAVE.
Anirudh Ravichander takes centre stage at Jailer 2 RAVE
The special event featured composer Anirudh Ravichander alongside singers associated with the sequel’s soundtrack.
Songs including Ala Bolelo, Bindaas and One Sun One Moon were performed for selected fans during the event.

Jailer 2 also continues Anirudh’s successful association with director Nelson Dilipkumar and Rajinikanth. The film marks his fifth collaboration with Nelson and his sixth with Rajinikanth.
With Rajinikanth absent from the traditional audio-launch format, the October 11 television interview is now expected to become one of the biggest promotional moments before release.
Tiger Muthuvel Pandian is coming back
Jailer 2 brings Rajinikanth back as Muthuvel Pandian, better known as Tiger, following the success of the original Jailer.
Nelson Dilipkumar, who wrote and directed the first film, is back to helm the sequel.
Several familiar faces are also returning, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik.

The sequel is expanding its cast considerably, with SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna among the reported new additions.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Vijay Sethupathi have been linked to possible cameo appearances. These cameo reports should be treated as unconfirmed unless officially announced by the makers.
The film is produced by Sun Pictures.
October 11 interview could reveal more about Jailer 2
With the interview scheduled just four days before the theatrical release, anticipation will naturally centre on what Rajinikanth might reveal about Jailer 2, his experience reuniting with Nelson and his return as Tiger.
The three-hour format could also offer something fans rarely get from the superstar: enough time for an extensive conversation rather than a brief promotional appearance.
And that may explain why the makers are comfortable skipping the familiar audio-launch formula.
Instead of one huge stage appearance, Rajinikanth could command three hours of television just days before Jailer 2 reaches cinemas.
For fans waiting to see Tiger back in action, October 11 may now be almost as important as the film’s release date itself.
Jailer 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2026.
