‘I prefer safer investments’: Kajal Aggarwal reveals why real estate beats startups for her after past losses
In an exclusive interaction, Kajal Aggarwal says she prefers preserving wealth through real estate over taking high-risk investment bets, adding that failed startup investments shaped her financial approach.
While several Bollywood celebrities are increasingly investing in startups, venture capital and alternative assets, Kajal Aggarwal says she is more comfortable following a conservative investment strategy.
Speaking during the promotions of her upcoming film The India Story, the actress admitted that she is still learning the complexities of financial planning and prefers taking guidance from experts before making investment decisions.
“I don’t yet have the confidence to make independent decisions when it comes to investing money,” Kajal said, adding that she relies on experienced advisors to help manage her finances.
‘Real estate feels safer to me’
Explaining her financial mindset, Kajal Aggarwal said that preserving capital is more important to her than chasing higher returns through risky investments.
According to the actress, real estate remains her preferred asset class because of its long-term stability.”I naturally gravitate towards the more conventional and safer investment options rather than the riskier ones. Even if I earn slightly less, I prefer it because it feels safer,” she shared.
Her comments reflect the investment philosophy of many celebrities who choose property as a long-term wealth creation strategy.
Past startup investments didn’t work out
Kajal also revealed that her previous experiences with startup investments were disappointing.
The actress said she had invested in a few startups in the past, but the ventures failed to succeed.
According to her, investing in startups requires not only sound advice but also an element of timing and luck.
She believes identifying the right business opportunity can be challenging, making professional guidance an essential part of the decision-making process.
Real estate remains a favourite among Bollywood celebrities
Kajal’s preference for property investments aligns with a growing trend among Bollywood’s biggest stars.
Actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Salman Khan have built substantial real-estate portfolios over the years through premium residential and commercial properties.
Recently, John Abraham made headlines after reportedly purchasing a luxury bungalow in Mumbai’s Bandra West for ₹84 crore, further highlighting the continued appeal of high-value real estate among celebrities.

On the professional front, Kajal Aggarwal is gearing up for the release of The India Story.
She is also set to appear in the much-awaited epic film Ramayana, where she will portray Mandodari, a significant character from the ancient Indian epic.
