The upcoming Nissan Tekton SUV will make its India debut on July 9 with rugged styling, premium features and a turbo-petrol engine.

New delhi: Nissan is all set to strengthen its presence in India’s highly competitive SUV market with the launch of the Nissan Tekton on July 9, 2026. First announced in November 2025, the upcoming SUV has generated significant buzz among buyers, with multiple test mules spotted on Indian roads over the past several months.

Positioned in the C-segment SUV category, the Nissan Tekton is expected to rival established players like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and the upcoming Renault Duster.

Bold design inspired by Nissan Patrol

The teaser images reveal that the Tekton adopts a rugged and muscular design language inspired by Nissan’s flagship Patrol SUV. At the front, the SUV features a large grille with multiple horizontal slats, highlighted by a striking red accent strip stretching across the grille and bonnet.

Adding to its premium appeal is an illuminated Nissan logo, flanked by rectangular LED headlamps connected through a full-width LED light bar. Vertical LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), a sculpted bonnet, and prominent Tekton badging complete the SUV’s bold front-end styling.

Although Nissan has not officially revealed the side and rear profile, the production model is expected to feature chunky black body cladding, square-shaped wheel arches, stylish alloy wheels, roof rails, and connected LED taillamps for a modern road presence.

Expected premium cabin and features

While Nissan has kept the cabin under wraps, the Tekton is expected to offer a feature-rich interior aimed at premium SUV buyers.

Expected highlights include:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 360-degree camera
  • Automatic climate control
  • Rear AC vents
  • Multiple drive modes
  • Wireless smartphone connectivity
  • Premium upholstery and connected car technology

These features are expected to place the SUV on par with rivals in the segment.

Platform and engine options

The Nissan Tekton will be built on the CMF-B platform, which it shares with the upcoming Renault Duster. This architecture has been developed for global markets and is designed to support multiple powertrain options.

  • 154 hp of maximum power
  • 250 Nm of peak torque

In addition to the turbo-petrol variant, Nissan is also expected to introduce a strong hybrid powertrain at a later stage, giving buyers a more fuel-efficient alternative.

A strong rival in the midsize SUV segment

With its aggressive styling, premium equipment list, modern platform and powerful turbo-petrol engine, the Nissan Tekton is expected to become one of the brand’s most important launches in India.

The SUV will compete directly against some of the country’s best-selling models, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, and the upcoming Renault Duster.

All eyes are now on July 9, when Nissan will officially unveil pricing, complete specifications and variant details for the much-awaited Tekton.
