‘Preity Zinta stood like a rock’: Celina Jaitly opens up on painful return to India, heartbreak and finding strength again

Actor Celina Jaitly has shared an emotional and deeply personal account of one of the most difficult phases of her life, revealing how actress Preity Zinta became her strongest pillar of support when she returned to India amid a troubled marriage.

In a candid conversation with journalist Gaurav Sawant, Celina recalled how she found herself without a home upon her return and had to stay in a hotel for nearly 10 days while battling legal hurdles to gain access to her own house.

Speaking about the painful chapter, Celina said she had to rely on just a handful of close friends after facing immense personal and emotional turmoil. With her parents gone and her brother absent, she described the period as one of complete isolation.

The actress reserved special gratitude for Preity Zinta, calling her the one person who truly understood her pain. “That woman stood like a rock,” Celina said, crediting Preity for being by her side when she felt emotionally shattered.

Celina also revealed that it was through Preity’s support that she visited the revered Maa Baglamukhi Temple and later travelled to Ujjain, where she found spiritual healing. She said those visits helped her reconnect with her Sanatana Dharma and her roots, something she described as her “true calling.”

Beyond her marital struggles, Celina reflected on a series of devastating personal losses that have shaped her journey. The actress spoke about losing both her parents, one of her twin sons, and the emotional pain of her brother remaining in prison.

In one of the most heartbreaking moments of the interview, Celina admitted there were nights when the burden of grief felt unbearable. She said life often felt like a story she “never signed up for,” but despite those moments of despair, she continued to gather herself and move forward.

Her resilience now seems to be guiding her into a fresh chapter professionally as well. Celina is all set to return to Hindi cinema with ‘Nibedita’, where she will portray Sister Nivedita, marking her comeback after six years.
