New Delhi: A planned farmers’ march towards Delhi was stopped at the Haryana border after authorities put up heavy security arrangements and barricades to prevent protesters from moving further. Following assurances from officials, the farmers decided to return, bringing a temporary pause to the latest demonstration.
The situation at the Punjab-Haryana border reminded many of the large-scale “Delhi Chalo-2” agitation in 2024, when the border areas witnessed intense security measures and were turned into heavily guarded zones amid farmer protests.
Farmers participating in the march said they were raising concerns related to their long-pending demands and wanted their voices to reach the central government. Protest leaders maintained that their movement would continue through democratic means and further discussions.
