Did ‘Ramayana’ makers release an unfinished teaser on purpose? Viral claim after Ranbir Kapoor set visit sparks fresh debate
A content creator’s explosive claim about Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has ignited social media, with fans now questioning whether the teaser criticism was part of a bigger strategy.
Director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic Ramayana has once again found itself at the centre of online chatter — this time over a surprising claim that its makers may have intentionally released an unfinished teaser.
The buzz started after content creator Dhruv Parikshit attended a special creators’ day organised by the film’s team earlier this week. During the event, digital creators were invited to visit the film’s sets and interact with director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra, and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.
Following the visit, Dhruv shared behind-the-scenes photos and clips on social media. But it was his reply to a follower’s question about the film’s VFX that quickly went viral.
When asked whether the visual effects shown during the visit were still incomplete, Dhruv initially admitted that some portions were unfinished but praised the larger vision.
According to him, the world-building and scale of Ramayana felt comparable to Avatar, describing it as “immersive” and visually stunning.
But the real storm began when he claimed that one of the VFX artists allegedly told him that the makers had deliberately uploaded a weaker version of the Lord Rama glimpse.
The alleged reasoning? To trigger criticism, debates and viral conversations online — essentially turning backlash into free marketing.
The claim spread rapidly across platforms, with screenshots of the comment circulating widely even after Dhruv deleted his original reply.
He later posted a clarification, stating that the VFX work was progressing strongly and suggested that the incomplete footage shown during the set visit had likely already been polished months ago. He also doubled down on praising the film’s character designs and fantasy world.

Still, the damage — or perhaps the publicity — had already been done.
The controversy has reopened discussions around the teaser that was released earlier this year. While many praised the glimpse for its grand scale and ambition, others criticised parts of the CGI, the visual effects, and especially the design of certain rakshasas, calling them underwhelming for a project of this scale.

At the time, the makers had assured fans that the VFX would continue to be refined before release.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features a massive ensemble cast including Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Ravie Dubey alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.
The first instalment is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, while the second part is expected to arrive in 2027.
Whether the teaser strategy was intentional or not remains unconfirmed. But one thing is certain — Ramayana continues to dominate conversations long before it hits theatres.
