The foldable smartphone race just got more intense. After weeks of speculation and controlled teasers, Vivo has officially confirmed that its next flagship foldable — the Vivo X Fold 6 — will be unveiled in China on June 26 at 7:00 PM CST (4:30 PM IST).
Pre-orders are already live across multiple platforms in mainland China, and in a classic marketing twist, users who pre-book the device will be entered into a lucky draw for a chance to win the phone for free.
But what’s really grabbing attention is not just the launch date — it’s what Vivo is calling a “foldable mini DSLR.”
A design inspired by the deep ocean
Vivo has confirmed a new “Blue Hole” colourway, inspired by deep-sea sinkholes. The design language leans toward a more premium, organic aesthetic with rounded corners and a 2.5D metal frame with vertical edges, giving it a refined flagship look.
Early leaks hinted at a large circular camera module — and that detail has now been effectively validated by Vivo’s official teasers.
A camera system that wants to rival DSLRs
The biggest headline feature is the camera setup.
The Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to feature a massive 200MP primary sensor, paired with a first-of-its-kind Zeiss APO super periscope telephoto lens on a foldable device.
On top of that, Vivo is integrating its Blueprint V3+ imaging chip, along with support for the Vivo Zeiss G2 teleconverter, which reportedly offers an equivalent focal length of 200mm.
In simple terms — Vivo isn’t just pushing mobile photography forward; it’s trying to blur the line between smartphones and professional cameras.
Display built for brightness and efficiency
Both the inner and outer displays use next-generation luminescent materials. The inner panel reportedly features Samsung M14 luminescent technology, which improves brightness while reducing power consumption.
This focus on efficiency is crucial for foldables, which often struggle with battery drain due to dual-screen usage.
Powering the foldable future
Under the hood, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a chip specifically tuned for foldable devices.
According to Vivo, this chipset has been in development for nearly two years. The improvements are significant on paper:
- 111% higher NPU performance
- 56% lower power consumption
If these numbers hold up in real-world usage, the X Fold 6 could become one of the most efficient foldables in the market.
Software built for productivity
The phone will ship with OriginOS 6 Fold, along with an upgraded version of Atomic Workbench — Vivo’s multitasking system designed specifically for large foldable screens.
The goal is clear: turn the device into a productivity-first machine rather than just a premium gadget.
Price still under wraps
Vivo has not yet revealed pricing or global availability details. Those will be announced at the official launch event on June 26.
However, given its positioning, camera hardware, and chipset, the X Fold 6 is expected to sit firmly in the ultra-premium segment.
