iPhone 18 Pro Leaks: Bigger Battery, A20 Pro Chip, AI Upgrades, Camera Improvements & Expected Launch
Leaked renders and reports suggest the iPhone 18 Pro series could feature larger batteries, AI-focused hardware upgrades, and enhanced camera technology.

For years, one of the biggest complaints from Apple users has been battery life—especially as smartphones become more powerful and AI-driven. Now, fresh leaks indicate that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series could finally address that concern with noticeably larger batteries and several premium upgrades.

According to recent reports circulating on Chinese social media platform Weibo, the next-generation iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to arrive with a slightly thicker design. The extra thickness is reportedly being used to accommodate larger battery units, allowing the devices to better handle increasingly demanding Apple Intelligence features without compromising battery endurance.

The leaked information suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could pack a battery exceeding 5,500mAh, making it one of the biggest batteries ever seen in an iPhone. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18 Pro is tipped to receive a battery capacity of around 4,200mAh, marking a noticeable improvement over its predecessor.

The rumours gain further credibility from another report referencing regulatory documents allegedly filed in China. While Apple has not officially confirmed these specifications, the filings reportedly point towards larger battery capacities across multiple regional variants of the upcoming flagship devices.

Powerful Hardware Expected

Battery improvements may not be the only major highlight of the next-generation iPhones. Reports suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro processor, which is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2nm fabrication process. The new chipset is anticipated to deliver substantial improvements in performance, efficiency, and AI processing capabilities.

To further support advanced Apple Intelligence features, both Pro models are also rumoured to feature 12GB RAM, offering smoother multitasking and faster on-device AI operations.

Display and Camera Upgrades

The display sizes are expected to remain premium, with the iPhone 18 Pro likely featuring a 6.3-inch OLED display, while the Pro Max may continue with a 6.9-inch OLED panel. However, reports indicate that Apple could reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, giving users more usable screen space and a cleaner look.

Camera upgrades are also expected to play a major role. Leaks suggest the introduction of a variable aperture primary camera, allowing users to capture improved low-light photographs while offering greater control over background blur and depth effects—features that photography enthusiasts have long requested.

Expected Launch Timeline

If Apple follows its traditional release schedule, the iPhone 18 Pro series is likely to be unveiled during the company’s annual September launch event, expected around September 8 or September 9 next year. Industry reports suggest that pre-orders could begin within the same week, while the official sale may commence around September 18.

Although these details remain based on leaks and industry speculation, the growing number of reports indicates that Apple is preparing one of its biggest Pro upgrades in recent years. If the battery improvements prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro could finally solve one of the most persistent concerns among iPhone users while delivering stronger AI capabilities, better photography, and improved overall performance.
