In a deeply unsettling incident, a 23-year-old medical intern from Kerala was found dead near Dona Paula beach in Panaji, Goa, on Wednesday evening—just days before she was scheduled to complete her internship.

According to police officials, the young doctor was pursuing her internship at Goa Medical College and was nearing the final stage of her training. Her body was discovered by locals at Hawaii Beach, who immediately alerted the authorities.

Preliminary findings suggest the case may be one of suicide, although officials have maintained that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after a detailed forensic analysis. A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the postmortem examination has been conducted, but the cause of death has been kept reserved pending viscera analysis.

Investigators reportedly found certain medical substances near the scene, raising suspicions about the circumstances leading to her death. However, authorities have refrained from drawing definitive conclusions at this stage.

The tragic timing of the incident has left both the medical community and her family in shock. The intern was expected to return to Kerala within the next two days, where her parents—both practicing doctors—were waiting for her.
