Moto G Max 5G Debuts With a Massive 200MP Camera and 5,000-Nit Display: Is Motorola’s New Mid-Range Beast Worth the Hype?
Motorola has quietly introduced the Moto G Max 5G with flagship-inspired camera hardware, military-grade durability, and Android 16, making it one of the most feature-packed smartphones in its segment.
The competition in the smartphone market is heating up, and Motorola has entered the spotlight once again with the launch of its latest mid-range offering, the Moto G Max 5G.
Packed with a headline-grabbing 200-megapixel camera, an ultra-bright AMOLED display, and military-grade durability certifications, the new handset aims to deliver premium features without stepping into flagship territory.
The smartphone has initially been launched in select global markets, with reports suggesting that it could arrive in additional countries under a different name.
A Camera That Takes Centre Stage
The biggest attraction of the Moto G Max 5G is undoubtedly its photography setup.
Motorola has equipped the device with a powerful 200-megapixel primary rear camera featuring Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), an f/1.8 aperture, and up to 10x digital zoom. The company is clearly targeting users who want detailed photography and advanced imaging capabilities without spending flagship-level money.
Supporting the main camera is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 120-degree field of view, making it suitable for landscape shots, travel photography, and group pictures.
For selfie enthusiasts, the phone features a 32-megapixel front-facing camera capable of recording videos in up to 2K resolution at 30 frames per second.
Bright Display Designed for Outdoor Use
The Moto G Max 5G sports a large 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a 1.5K Super HD resolution of 1272×2772 pixels and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, the display is one of the brightest panels in its class. Motorola claims it can reach a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, making outdoor visibility significantly better even under harsh sunlight.
Whether streaming content, gaming, or browsing social media, the high-resolution screen is expected to deliver vibrant colours and sharp visuals.
Durability That Goes Beyond Expectations
In an era where smartphone durability has become increasingly important, Motorola appears to have gone the extra mile.
The Moto G Max carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, offering strong protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water jets.
Additionally, it meets the MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification standard, which tests devices under challenging environmental conditions such as temperature variations, humidity, and physical stress.
These certifications make the smartphone a compelling option for users with active lifestyles or those frequently exposed to demanding environments.

Performance Backed by MediaTek Power
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, paired with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 graphics processor.
The device comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Motorola has also included virtual RAM expansion support, allowing users to increase memory by up to 16GB for smoother multitasking.
Running on Android 16-based Hello UI, the Moto G Max aims to provide a clean software experience while offering the latest Android features.
Battery Built for Long Days
Powering the smartphone is a 5,200mAh battery with support for 33W TurboPower fast charging.
According to Motorola, the battery can deliver up to 35 hours of usage on a single charge, making it suitable for heavy users who spend long hours streaming, gaming, or working on the go.
Connectivity and Security Features
The Moto G Max includes a comprehensive connectivity package featuring 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou support.
Security is handled through an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock functionality.
Additional sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and e-compass.
Price and Availability
The Moto G Max 5G is currently available in Brazil with a single configuration offering 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It carries a price tag of BRL 2,519.10, which roughly translates to ₹47,000.
The smartphone is available in Azul Carlo (Blue) and Grafite colour options.
Interestingly, Motorola is reportedly preparing to introduce the same device in other international markets under the Moto G87 branding, potentially expanding its reach to a broader audience.
With a high-resolution camera, rugged design, bright AMOLED display, and the latest Android software, the Moto G Max 5G could emerge as one of Motorola’s most ambitious mid-range smartphones yet.
