Kalyani Strategic Systems and Paramount unveil Simha 4×4 armoured vehicle for modern battlefield operations

In a significant development for the defence sector, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the defence arm of Bharat Forge, has partnered with Paramount to unveil the Simha 4×4 Light Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle. The vehicle was officially showcased at Eurosatory 2026, one of the world’s leading defence and security exhibitions.

The newly introduced Simha 4×4 has been designed as a next-generation armoured platform capable of supporting a wide range of military missions. Built from the ground up, the vehicle is intended to serve armed forces in India, Africa, South Asia, and other international markets where operational flexibility and battlefield adaptability have become increasingly important.

According to the manufacturers, the Simha 4×4 has been engineered to operate effectively in both urban environments and challenging off-road terrain. Its mission profile extends beyond traditional reconnaissance duties and includes border security, internal security operations, special forces missions, troop transport, command-and-control roles, and force protection assignments.

One of the vehicle’s standout features is its modular architecture, which allows military operators to modify and upgrade the platform based on evolving operational needs. This design approach reduces the need for extensive structural changes while enabling the integration of new technologies and mission-specific equipment over time.

Speaking about the launch, Eric Ichikowitz, Senior Vice President of Paramount, highlighted the growing demand for versatile military platforms worldwide.

He noted that defence forces increasingly require vehicles capable of performing multiple roles while remaining adaptable to emerging technologies and local production requirements. According to him, the Simha has been developed to offer a balanced combination of protection, mobility, modularity, and cost efficiency.

The companies also stated that advanced digital engineering tools played a key role during the vehicle’s development process. These technologies reportedly helped accelerate design validation and testing, enabling the platform to move from concept to production-ready status within a relatively short timeframe.

A major strategic advantage of the Simha 4×4 is its ability to support local manufacturing programmes. KSSL and Paramount believe the platform can be produced within partner nations, helping governments strengthen domestic defence industries while reducing dependence on imported military equipment and supply chains.

The unveiling of the Simha 4×4 further expands the growing defence collaboration between KSSL and Paramount, which aims to develop advanced military solutions for both domestic and international customers.

Commenting on the vehicle’s significance, Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, described the platform as a symbol of India’s growing capabilities in the global defence sector.

He stated that the Simha 4×4 has been designed using globally recognised standards and NATO-qualified systems, making it suitable for rapid industrialisation in multiple countries. He added that the platform reflects India’s ambition to deliver world-class defence technologies while enabling partner nations to build and sustain their own military capabilities.

As defence forces worldwide continue to seek adaptable and future-ready combat vehicles, the launch of the Simha 4×4 marks another step forward in India’s emergence as a significant player in the global defence manufacturing landscape.
